REPORT – Here’s What Taxpayers Are Paying for the
Phony Stein/Hillary Recount:
Green Party candidate Dr. Jill Stein
is spearheading a multi-state recount effort under the guise of combating voter
fraud, but even Hillary Clinton’s campaign, which joined the effort, admits
nothing will likely come of the effort. Even President-Elect Donald Trump calls
the effort a “get rich scam.”
As Biz Pac Review reports,
Stein is seeking recounts in three swing states Donald Trump won: Michigan,
Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. And while Stein has raised millions for these
recounts, she is not fully funding these efforts, leaving those taxpayers with
the tab. In Michigan alone, the bill for the recount could cost Michigan
taxpayers up to $5 million.
Stein has raised the fundraising
goal for the recounts four times since she launched the effort. The goal is now
$9.5 million after Stein initially sought only $2.2 million for the effort.
Michigan Secretary of State Ruth
Johnson has stated the cost of a recount in Michigan alone could reach $5
million. A total of 4.8 million ballots would be involved in the state’s
effort, but instead of doing the equitable thing, Stein’s attorneys submitted a
check in the amount of $973,250 to the state Bureau of Elections, the minimum
required by law to file for a recount. The remaining cost would fall on the
taxpayers.
Stein’s recount movement effort
garnered a semblance of plausible credibility when the director of the
University of Michigan Center for Computer Security & Society published
“concerns” that hackers may have infiltrated
the electronic voting systems in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. To date there has been no definitive
proof that any hacking took place. This effort is based simply on “concerns”
and “possibilities.”
In Wisconsin, Stein’s
demanded recount is underway with state officials urgently racing against the
clock to complete the recount in time to have Wisconsin’s electoral votes
certified when the Electoral College meets on December 19th.
There is the real Stein agenda: the disenfranchisement
of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania’s Electoral College electors. The
Electoral College is scheduled to meet on Monday, December 19, 2016, to elect
the next president of the United States.
Each state sends its electors to
Washington to vote. These electors have to be certified by the states before
they can be seated. What if the recount effort is meant to tangle the
certifications of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania? These states represent
46 Electoral College votes and, if deducted from the Trump total, would put him
under the required 270 electoral votes.
The other component – or theory – is
that Stein is using this “ballot purity” initiative in an effort to pad her
coffers. When a candidate raises
election campaign money, they are allowed, under federal election law, to
maintain that money in a campaign account to pay staff and retire campaign
debt. Many presidential campaign offices of losing candidates stay open for
years after the election.
Either way, Stein’s
Janus face is showing. While she feigns concern for vote purity, her motives
are selfish, political, and partisan. And they are quite damaging to the
peaceful transition of power. Stein, it can be said, is disingenuous, to say
the least.
