Article V Convention Suicide

Only 11 States are calling for an Article V Constitutional Convention.  Article V requires 38 States to call for a Convention. These States are calling for Amendments to be determined by representatives appointed by State governments who would have the authority to change the US Constitution.

Some States want the Federal government to be forced to adhere to a balanced budget, but leaves Congress with the right to raise taxes to do that.  It also calls for “term limits”, but doesn’t solve the problem of special interest corruption of Congress with excessive campaign contributions.

Congress is divided into two camps.  Liberal Democrats will fight to keep the Federal government push to higher spending, more entitlements and more globalist, socialist policies.  Republicans are conflicted, but are expected to support smaller government and a stronger private sector. Only 20% of Republicans in Congress are committed to the US Constitution (as written). 

Timing couldn’t be worse for a move like an Article V Convention.  Soros wants an Article V convention; what does that tell you?

This is a dangerous process that can result in the replacement of our original US Constitution.  The safest way to make the needed reforms is to have Congress write Amendments to finally resolve the unconstitutional laws they have passed for the past 150 years.
