Alice in Wonderland

Theresa May is cast as Alice.  The Queen of Hearts is the President of the EU. The Rabbit is Nigel Farage. The Mad Hatter is the Parliament.  The rest of the cast represents the British voters. Some are skeptical and others are diluted by their distractions.

 

The image we get is a British citizenry that is intent on doing things properly, but they often fail to do the right things. Joining the EU on the basis of the global warming hoax, diluting their economy with socialism and giving away their sovereignty to a UN surrogate looms as their most serious recent mistakes.

 

Theresa May is confronted by the ridiculous EU and will be resisted at every turn as she attempts to free the UK from the tentacles of the EU. She will get little help from the Parliament or the voters.

 

The Brits have been masters of political speech and satire for centuries and have a history of weaving their grievances into their culture with plays and comedy. They need to regain their rebellious humor to overcome the damage inflicted on them by the UN.

 

Poland is an EU member state, but is resisting EU mandates and is insisting on sovereignty for Poland and all other EU members.

Theresa May certainly has common ground with the Polish Prime Minister.

 

Alice in Wonderland was created in the mid-1800s, but it reflects images of the current dilemma in Europe. It was not written as a political satire, but it does serve as political satire.

 

On July 4, 1862, a young mathematician by the name of Charles Dodgson, better-known as Lewis Carroll (January 27, 1832–January 14, 1898), boarded a boat with a small group, setting out from Oxford to the nearby town of Godstow, where the group was to have tea on the river bank. The party consisted of Carroll, his friend Reverend Robinson Duckworth, and the three little sisters of Carroll’s good friend Harry Liddell — Edith (age 8), Alice (age 10), and Lorina (age 13). Entrusted with entertaining the young ladies, Dodgson fancied a story about a whimsical world full of fantastical characters, and named his protagonist Alice. So taken was Alice Liddell with the story that she asked Dodgson to write it down for her, which he did when he soon sent her a manuscript under the title of Alice’s Adventures Under Ground.
