National Sovereignty has been adopted by all Countries on the planet over thousands of years. It is maintained by guarded borders by the governments of these countries. Invasions are repelled by each country’s Military, Border Patrol and Law Enforcement. Border Walls are required to keep Illegals from entering. Illegals are deported back to their own countries. Legal immigration is supported. Countries are obligated to provide employment opportunities to citizens in their Private Sector Economies so their populations can be self-supporting. The rights of citizens to own property is the key to developing Intergenerational Wealth, needed to support the next generation of each family. In the US, it became the key to creating the Private Sector Middle Class.
National Sovereignty is aided by the “National Culture” reflected in its history and reinforced by unique Traditions, national holidays, festivals and religious holidays that also bring in a tourist trade. Families pass their National Culture to their children, who participate in the festivities. The UK has the “Royals. France has the Ambiance and the Café’s. Germany has Oktoberfest. Italy has the Pope. All have Castles, Mansions, Scenery and Local Cuisine. Many US Tourists feel a connection to their parents’ “home countries” in Europe.
In 1969, we visited Monterrey Mexico for a week and saw the difference in living conditions in the city versus life in the desert and it was striking. The modest adobe houses were poor and their inhabitants didn’t look happy. The wealthier residents In the City of Monterrey had all the modern conveniences and the inhabitants looked happy. We were told that the poor would likely never own land.
In 1984, I made a business trip to Singapore with Dennis Hayes to set up a Sales Office to provide Asian customers with Hayes Modems. Mattel was closing its game plant and I was there to meet with 3 candidates to run our Sales Office. One was their Plant Manager, another was their Personnel Manager and the third was the Secretary to the Plant Manager. They were perfect. I wrote an employment agreement for the Plant Manager who was a US Citizen. Singapore was modern and the people were exceptional.
In 1993, we made a business trip to Germany to set up a Sales Office to provide European customers with LXE bar-code-reading computer equipment. We landed in Frankfort and stayed to interview Sales Manager nearby candidates. We drove to Stuttgart to meet with our Law Firm. We drove to Dusseldorf to interview nearby candidates and stayed at the Steigenberger Park Hotel. We had weekends off and toured Achen and local castles and churches and the tomb of Holy Roman Emperor, Charlemagne. My wife was a Johannes and we found Johannes Castle, Johannes Beer and went dancing. Germans in and near the cities spoke English and we met a few. They were proud of their Bakery Goods and proud of their Beer. They were friendly, competitive and hard-working. Their local news was business oriented and that was refreshing, because the US Media was shallow.
In 2001, we joined a Tour to Italy that included Rome, Assisi, Verona, Florence, Pizza and Venice. We heard Pope John Paul II give his Christmas Message in 135 of his favorite languages. We were stuck at the Vatican because the bus drivers quit to go home for Christmas. We spent the night at a local hotel and returned to our own hotel the next morning. Our Bus Tour was well attended and well led. The Italian citizens we met at the Tourist sites were happy, but those we saw on the street were stressed. Young couples with 1 child looked concerned. Their economy was not the best in 2001 and living costs were high.
Our exposure to other countries and other cultures convinced us that we share the same aspirations. We rely on a strong Private Sector Economy to provide for ourselves and our families. This requires Economic Sovereignty.
