US Liquid Natural Gas Exports 11-1-25

The US is on track to export approximately 14.7 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) on average in 2025, a significant increase from 2024. Monthly data shows a high of 458.0 Bcf exported in March 2025, with overall 2025 exports growing substantially compared to the previous year.

Average daily exports: The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) projects average LNG exports of 14.7 Bcf/d for 2025.

Monthly figures: The monthly export volume reached 458.0 Bcf in March 2025, accounting for 60.8% of total U.S. natural gas exports.

Year-over-year growth: Early-year data indicates a substantial increase, with the first half of 2025 showing a 20% jump in LNG export volumes compared to the first half of 2024, reaching a record 2.57 Bcf.

Leading destination: Europe remains a major destination for U.S. LNG exports.

Record-breaking pace: Overall export volumes are on a record-breaking pace, with some reports indicating a 22% increase in total U.S. LNG exports over the first 8 months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, reaching 69 million tons.

As of late October 2025, the U.S has exported approximately 69 million metric tons (MT) of liquid natural gas (LNG) during the first eight months of the year. This translates to a record-breaking 9.33 MT in August and has been attributed to increased production from new facilities and strong international demand.

Here are the details on U.S. LNG exports for 2025:

Total exports (January–August): The U.S. exported about 69 million metric tons of LNG through August 2025, a 22% increase over the same period in 2024.

Recent monthly exports: The U.S. set new monthly records in 2025:

April: 9.3 million metric tons.

August: 9.33 million metric tons.

Full-year 2025 forecast: The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) has forecast total LNG exports to increase to an average of 14.7 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in 2025, up from 11.9 Bcf/d in 2024.

Growth drivers: The increase is being fueled by new facilities coming online, including the Plaquemines LNG and Corpus Christi LNG Stage 3 projects.

Destinations: In 2025, the majority of U.S. LNG exports have gone to Europe, followed by Asia.

The U.S. is projected to produce approximately 107.14 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of natural gas per day in 2025, with total daily LNG exports expected to reach 15 Bcf by the end of the year, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). The increase in production and export capacity is driven by new facilities like Plaquemines LNG and Corpus Christi LNG Stage 3 coming online.

Key metrics for 2025

Natural Gas Production: The EIA forecasts daily natural gas production to average around 107.14Bcf, an increase from 2024.

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Exports: Gross LNG exports are expected to rise to15 Bcf/d in 2025, up from12 Bcf/d in 2024.

New Export Capacity: The 2025 increase in exports is largely due to new export capacity coming online, with 5Bcf/d of new capacity expected to be added in 2025 and 2026.

Domestic Consumption: The U.S. is also seeing record levels of domestic natural gas consumption, which will consume more natural gas than

U.S. households for the first time this year.
