Churches have a stake in Freedom

Churches have traditionally survived attacks against it throughout history and its tyrannical times.  Despite all the old testament accounts of wars, the churches have shied away from wars.  Churches refrained from having a positive effect on government until the founding of the United States.  This was the first time any nation had been founded on Christian and Jewish principles. The concept of a “just war” was embraced during World War II, but has not been declared since. 

It is clear that the US government has been at war with US churches for some time and it’s time that US churches respond.  Churches have a lot to teach about human nature, that thrives on freedom.  Our free will needs to be aligned with God’s Will in order for us to be happy.  When we stray, we become unhappy and experience other difficulties.  This self-adjusting dynamic should be enough to inform us to correct our behavior.  We are called to be forgiving of individual sinners.  But the churches must face systemic Evil, identify it and destroy it. The US government is infected and needs to reform itself and it’s up to the churches to instruct them. 

We as individuals are called on to help the poor. It is not government’s job to do this.  When that happens it’s called socialism.  Churches need to recognize this and choose freedom over socialism.  Socialism requires that the government replace the church.  It has happened many times. It never lasts long, but is preventable.

Poverty is directly related to the lack of property rights and debt.  The poor of the world need to be able to purchase their own property and water rights.  Their governments should be arranging for this to occur, but they don’t.

It will require churches to learn about economics, accurate climate science, history and politics to be armed for this battle.  We in the churches should not settle for being persecuted without resisting this attack.
