US Manufacturing Plants 12-5-25

In 2025, numerous U.S. cities are building manufacturing plants, with recent announcements including new facilities in Texas (Eli Lilly, Samsung, and Cancoil USA), Virginia (Eli Lilly and Merck), North Carolina (Novartis and Boviet Solar), Louisiana (First Solar), and Arizona (Amkor). Other locations with new or expanding facilities are Illinois (AbbVie, Raptor Power Systems), Maryland (AstraZeneca), New Jersey (Hovione), Pennsylvania (Eos Energy), and Ohio (Mars, WCR), among others.

Texas:Eli Lilly is building a $6.5 billion active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) facility in Harris County.

Samsung is constructing an advanced semiconductor fab.Cancoil USA will build a heat transfer plant.

Virginia:

Eli Lilly plans a $5 billion biologics manufacturing facility in Goochland County.

Merck is building a $3 billion center of excellence.

Hitachi Energy is building a large power transformer plant.

North Carolina:

Novartis is building a manufacturing and R&D hub.

Boviet Solar is beginning production at a new facility.

BorgWarner is locating an EV components plant here.

Illinois: AbbVie is constructing a new API facility in North Chicago. Raptor Power Systems opened a new facility in Champaign.

Arizona: Amkor is breaking ground on a $7 billion semiconductor campus. Fluence is expanding its manufacturing with a new Arizona facility.

Louisiana: First Solar opened an AI-enabled factory.

Ohio: Mars is opening a new large dry pet food factory in Lewisburg. WCR is launching a plate heat exchanger plant in Ohio.

Alabama: Diageo is opening a new manufacturing and warehousing facility in Montgomery.

Maryland: AstraZeneca is investing $2 billion to expand its manufacturing operations.

New Jersey: Hovione is doubling its spray drying capacity in East Windsor.

Pennsylvania: Eos Energy is relocating its HQ and expanding in Pennsylvania.

Washington: Sila began operations at a silicon anode plant.

Phoenix/Glendale, AZ: Nestlé opened a new $675 million beverage factory in Glendale

Phoenixis a leading hub for manufacturing, with companies like Intel and TSMC expanding their presence in the area.

Chandler, AZ: Intel is continuing major expansions of its semiconductor fabrication plants.

Boise, ID & Nampa, ID: Micron Technology is building a new memory chip fabrication facility in 

Boise, while JTS opened a second advanced manufacturing facility in Nampa.

Salt Lake City, UT: Mars opened a new Nature's Bakery facility, and AeroVironment established a new advanced manufacturing facility. Nucor is also building a new utility structures production facility in

Hayward/Los Angeles, CA: Zoox opened its first purpose-built robotaxi production facility in 

Hayward and Archer expanded its production with a second Los Angeles facility.

A major hub for pharmaceuticals and various manufacturing.Holly Springs, Wilson and Durham

: RocheJohnson & Johnson, and Merck are investing billions in new and expanded pharmaceutical and biologics facilities.

Charlotte: AVL Manufacturing opened its first U.S. plant.

Reidsville: Farmina Pet Foods opened its first U.S. manufacturing facility.

Asheville: Pratt & Whitney is expanding its turbine airfoil plant.

Georgia (various cities):

LaFayette: Pilgrim's is building a new $400 million prepared foods facility.

Ellabell: Hyundai completed its new "Metaplant" for EV and hybrid production.

Alabama (various cities): Diageo is investing in a new manufacturing and warehousing facility in 

Montgomery and ArcelorMittal plans to construct an electrical steel facility.

South Carolina (various cities): Projects include a new SHL Medical facility in Spartanburg and expansions by Boeing in North Charleston

Midwestern U.S.

Ohio (various cities): Intel is building two large chip factories in New Albany and Mars invested in a new Royal Canin facility in Lewisburg

Indiana (various cities): Expansions in Indianapolisby Roche, in Bloomingtonby Simtra BioPharma, and a new facility for Grillo's Pickles in Taylorsville

Texas (various cities): Home to numerous projects, including a new Eli Lilly API facility in Harris County, Samsung's semiconductor plant in Taylor, and a Paris Baguette bakery plant in Burleson
