My review of US History, Economics and Politics reveals the tendency to “over-do” everything. We are vulnerable to overreacting to propaganda as we search to regain a common vision. We are vulnerable to “Bandwagon Fads” and “Economic Declines”. The development of “Mass Media” has enabled this problem by encouraging hysteria. We are vulnerable to overreaction to events and funding our own demise. The US needs to reduce its “foreign aid” and excessive government spending in order to pay down its $37 trillion debt.
In the 1960s, the global population reached 3 billion and started a global overpopulation panic, the Birth Control Pill was invented, Abortion became more popular and Women’s liberation began.
From 1960 to the present, famines have plagued poor countries, with significant events like the Sahel drought, the Biafran famine, and the Ethiopian famine in the 1980s, along with more recent crises in Somalia, South Sudan and East Africa.
Key
Famines and Events:
1960s-1970s:
The Sahel drought, starting in the late 1960s, caused widespread food shortages
and starvation in the Sahel region of Africa.
1966-1967:
The Biafran famine occurred during the Biafran secession war in Nigeria,
resulting in a blockade and widespread starvation.
1970s:
The Khmer Rouge-caused famine in Cambodia in the 1970s was a major famine
event.
1983-1985:
The Ethiopian famine was one of the worst humanitarian events of the 20th
century, with a significant number of deaths.
1991-1992:
The Somalia famine, triggered by drought and civil war, led to widespread
suffering and death.
1998-2000:
The Eritrean-Ethiopian War caused displacement, economic hardship, and
famine-like conditions.
1998-2003:
The Second Congo War, known as Africa's World War, led to widespread
displacement, famine, and death.
2005-2006:
A severe drought and locust invasion in Niger caused a food crisis.
2011-2012:
A severe drought across East Africa led to famine in Somalia, Djibouti,
Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and other neighboring countries.
2015-2016:
An El Niño drought created a severe drought in southern and eastern
Africa.
2017:
Parts of South Sudan experienced famine after years of civil war.
2020s:
The
COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine have exacerbated food insecurity and
hunger in many countries, especially in Africa.
2024: The Global Hunger Index 2024 identified Somalia, Yemen, and Chad as the countries most affected by hunger and malnutrition.
Causes
of Famines:
Natural Disasters: Droughts, floods, and other climate-related events can disrupt food production and lead to famine.
Conflict: Civil wars and other conflicts can disrupt food production and distribution, leading to famine.
Poverty and Food Insecurity: Chronic poverty and food insecurity make populations vulnerable to famine.
Environmental Degradation: Deforestation, soil erosion, and other forms of environmental degradation can reduce agricultural productivity and increase the risk of famine.
Political Instability and Government Policies: Inconsistent government policies, corruption, and lack of effective governance can exacerbate famine risks.

The media drove the famine panic, but advances in Agriculture and Water Conservation allowed Global Famine Panics to subside.
In the 1960s, the Civil Rights Movement began with the goal of removing “Jim Crow” Laws from Southern States. President Kennedy ended Segregation.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964, signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson on July 2, 1964, outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin, and is considered a landmark civil rights and labor law.
The Civil Rights Act of 1965 was signed into law on August 6, 1965, by President Lyndon Johnson. It outlawed the discriminatory voting practices adopted in many southern states after the Civil War, including literacy tests as a prerequisite to voting. https://www.google.com/search?q=civil+rights+act+1965
On September 24, 1965 President Lyndon B. Johnson issued Executive Order 11246, prohibiting employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, and national origin by those organizations receiving federal contracts and subcontracts.
90% of all Discrimination Lawsuits failed. Real Companies continued to test applicants and continued to hire on the basis of merit. Large, Law Firm controlled companies went from being victims to being Woke. Now they are ending their DEI programs.
The Gay Rights movement led to the Transgender Rights movement and all began to fail in 2024. This experiment in anti-discrimination law illustrates that nothing exceeds like excess.
The Global Warming “theory” presented by the UN in 1989 was signed on to by US President George HW Bush, implemented in 1990 by US President Bill Clinton and enacted by US President Barak Obama from 2009 to 2016. I reading of UN Agenda 21 reveals that it was a plan to create a global government under UN control. When the “Global Warming theory was suspected to be a Hoax, its name changed to “Climate Change”. In 2017, US President Donald Trump rejected Climate Change and declared it as a Hoax. In 2021, President Joe Biden resurrected and overspent on Climate Change, caused Global Inflation and ruined the Global Economy. In 2024, US President Donald Trump was elected and began to restore the US Economy and encourage Allies to restore their own economies.
Money Printing for excessive government spending is yet another problem that led to excessive Inflation and high government debt.
In 1989, the USSR overreached and overspent and went broke. It became the Russian Republic and released its “satellite countries”. When the Roman Empire ran out of money in 476AD, it was invaded.
The EU citizens are burdened by high energy prices, sales taxes and two layers of government. The EU government needs to keep the Euro, cut its budget, let its member countries make the laws, deport its foreign migrants and grow its Private Sector Economy.
The UN needs to end its failed programs, cut its budget, disband its Court and allow countries to solve their own problems. The Red Cross needs to take over famine relief.
The US is on the brink of insolvency and needs to automate government functions and pare back excessive government spending and debt and restore the US Private Sector Economy. Trump is replacing War with Total Economic Isolation for bad actors. Trump is promoting the Abraham Accords as a model for good countries expand their economies and to help their troubled neighbors. The UN does more harm than good.
In 1989 the US National Debt was $3 trillion. In 2000, the US National Debt was $5.63 trillion. Now in 2025, the US National Debt is approaching $37 trillion.
Trump is alerting all counties to the fact that they will need to be their own Santa Claus. The US is hanging up its Santa Claus suit and will need to put its house in order by reducing all forms of foreign aid. Trump wants all countries to produce what they consume and put their citizens first. All countries will now need to put their own houses in order and use common sense to advance their economies.
