Psychosis 4-24-25

Psychosis is a state where a person experiences a significant loss of contact with reality, often characterized by hallucinations and delusions. It's a symptom rather than a disease itself, and can be caused by various factors like mental illness, substance abuse, or medical conditions.

Key Characteristics of Psychosis:

Disrupted Reality: A person with psychosis may have difficulty distinguishing between what is real and what is not.

Hallucinations: Experiencing sensory perceptions (seeing, hearing, feeling, etc.) that others cannot perceive.

Delusions: Holding strongly fixed beliefs that are not based on reality, even when presented with evidence to the contrary.

Disorganized Thinking and Speech: Difficulty organizing thoughts, which can lead to incoherent speech and behavior.

Negative Symptoms: Symptoms such as lack of motivation, social withdrawal, and difficulty expressing emotions.

Possible Causes of Psychosis:

Mental Illness: Conditions like schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder can be associated with psychosis.

Substance Abuse: Intoxication or withdrawal from drugs or alcohol can trigger psychotic episodes.

Medical Conditions: Certain medical conditions or brain injuries can also cause psychosis.

Trauma: Experiencing trauma can sometimes lead to psychotic episodes.

Stress: Extreme stress can sometimes trigger psychotic symptoms.

Half the US population needs to improve their mental health. This requires that they take personal responsibility and make the decision to Improve and ask God’s help. Until that happens, treatment is useless. Recovery from addiction requires hitting bottom. Marijuana kills brain cells. The causes of Autism are unknown.
