Countries Banned from Entering US 12-1-25

As of December 2025, nationals of 19 countries are subject to a U.S. travel ban, with countries facing a full ban on entry and an additional 7 countries facing partial restrictions.  

The countries facing a full suspension of entry for all immigrant and nonimmigrant visa categories are: 

Afghanistan

Myanmar (Burma)

Chad

Republic of the Congo

Equatorial Guinea

Eritrea

Haiti

Iran

Libya

Somalia

Sudan

Yemen 

The countries subject to partial restrictions, which include bans on B-1/B-2 (visitor), F/M (student), and J (exchange visitor) visas, as well as all immigrant visas (with limited exceptions), are: 

Burundi

Cuba

Laos

Sierra Leone

Togo

Turkmenistan

Venezuela 

These restrictions, issued via a Presidential Proclamation in June 2025, apply to individuals who were outside the U.S. and did not have a valid visa as of June 9, 2025. There are specific exemptions, such as for U.S. permanent residents (green card holders), those with current valid visas, and certain immediate relatives of U.S. citizens.

The full ban means that citizens of these countries are generally prohibited from entering the U.S. under any immigrant or non-immigrant visa category, unless they qualify for specific exemptions.

Nationals from the following seven countries face a partial travel ban, typically meaning they are restricted from obtaining specific types of visas such as immigrant visas and certain nonimmigrant visas (B-1/B-2 visitor, F student, M student, and J exchange visitor visas), with limited exceptions.
