For first time in 3 decades US takes fewer refugees
than the rest of the world combined, by Ann Corcoran 7/6/18.
Pew study: Rest of the world takes in more refugees than US for first time.
The study found that it is the first time the U.S has resettled fewer refugees than the combined total of all other nations since the 1980 U.S. Refugee Act, which allows the president to set caps on the number admitted.
The analysis also highlights a sharp decline in U.S. refugee resettlements from 2016. Obama/Trudeau good, Trump bad.
I’m
just shaking my head… here we have the biased
publication, The Hill, posting a news story
(designed to whack the President) that basically says it is shameful that the US is not taking more
refugees than the rest of the world COMBINED!
I
bet many new readers here never even knew that we have been taking more refugees than the
rest of the world COMBINED. To hear the Open Borders
yappers, you were probably thinking that Germany, Turkey, Jordan, or Lebanon
could claim that honor.
However,
remember, that those migrants who flooded in to countries in Europe and others
in the Middle East will not be staying permanently, and most will not become
voting citizens of those countries.
Until Donald Trump, the US has admitted permanent
refugees at a rate higher than the rest of the world COMBINED. So isn’t time for us to take a break?
Jesus
Rodriguez writing at The Hill (widely
read on the Hill):
The
United States is resettling fewer refugees than the rest of the world combined
according to a new Pew Research Center analysis of data from the United Nations
High Commissioner on Refugees (UNHCR).
Historically, the United States has led the world in refugee
admissions, having taken in more than 3 million of the 4 million refugees
resettled worldwide since the law’s adoption.
But
in 2017, the United States took in 33,000 refugees. That figure marks a sharp
decline from the roughly 97,000 refugees resettled in 2016 and the lowest
amount since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, when the government
suspended refugee admissions for three months.
The
rest of the world admitted about twice as many refugees last year, at 69,000.
The
Obama administration notched a high that year, admitting 97,000 refugees.
This
next line is such BS. Until Trump came along those other countries were just
happy to hide and let the US carry the load! The State Department deep-staters
love to say this, but there is no proof it guilt-tripped any country to step
up!
The report notes that the U.S. often touted its refugee admissions to
encourage other countries to also take in more people. Canada and Australia also saw a
decrease in admissions in 2016. But Canada led the world by resettling 725
refugees per 1 million residents, a per-capita high.
Don’t
miss the comments, readers of The
Hill are having none of it!!! You might want to add your voices!
Message
to the lazy lunks on the Hill: The Refugee
Act of 1980 needs
to be completely scrapped. Start over!
If
we are going to take in refugees, political agitators pretending to be humanitarian
groups while feeding out of the federal trough have to go! For new readers,
here they are!
The
nine federal contractors you fund are below.
The
number in parenthesis is the percentage of their income paid by you (the taxpayer) to place the refugees,
line them up with jobs, and get them signed up for their services (aka welfare,
education and healthcare)! From
most recent accounting, here.
There
will be no reform of the USRAP until these nine federal contractors/political
activist groups are eliminated from the system.
Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC) (secular) (93%)
International Rescue Committee (IRC) (secular) (66.5%)
US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) (secular) (98%)
