Imports - The top imports of Iraq are Refined Petroleum ($7.81B), Broadcasting Equipment ($3.76B), Cars ($3.4B), Jewellery ($3.01B), and Rolled Tobacco ($1.29B), importing mostly from United Arab Emirates ($21.2B), China ($14B), Turkey ($13.7B), India ($2.45B), and South Korea ($1.15B).

According to the UN, approximately 4.1 million people require humanitarian assistance in Iraq, including approximately 920,000 food-insecure Iraqis.

After 2011, Iraq became a Parliamentary Republic with elections of members and a Prime Minister.

Violent repression of protesters and arrests of journalists covering protests continued in 2023. In October 2022, just over a year after the 2021 federal elections, political elites finally agreed on the appointment of Mohammed Shia al-Sudani as prime minister.
