US Poverty Increasing 6-12-24

The poverty rate rose from 11.7% in fall 2021 to 13.2% in the first quarter of 2023, according to the California Poverty Measure (CPM), a research effort by PPIC and the Stanford Center on Poverty and Inequality that accounts for housing costs and safety net benefits. Oct 24, 2023

The SPM rate in 2022 was 12.4 percent, an increase of 4.6 percentage points from 2021. This is the first increase in the overall SPM poverty rate since 2010 (Figure 6 and Table B-2). The SPM child poverty rate more than doubled, from 5.2 percent in 2021 to 12.4 percent in 2022 (Figure 4 and Table B-3). Sep 12, 2023

The US poverty rate will continue to increase as more illegal immigrants continue to take US jobs and disrupt US cities. The illegal count from 2021 to 2024 is 12 million and 65% of them have US jobs.
