Night of the Living T-SPLOST

Just when you thought it was dead, hapless politicians keep resurrecting….

“THE WORST OF T-SPLOST”

We knew they were delusional when we heard that they projected an additional 3 million increase in population and used a computer model to figure out where everybody would live and were widening roads based on that hypothetical.  It smelled like a stimulus plan that didn’t care if any of this spending was actually useful.

We knew that bus service could be private and it worked pretty well, so why was government involved in public bus service ?  It smelled like politicians taking over more private sector work and not doing a very good job at it.

We knew that trains cost over $100 million a mile to build and nobody rides them.  Now, Cobb County politicians are proposing to spend $3 million on a light rail study.  Google the Michael Jackson video called “Thriller’.

The project list for Atlanta Region 3 didn’t relieve congestion much.  It barely touched the heart of the congestion beast, I-285.  Yet $8.5 billion wasn’t enough to fix that problem because most of it was going to bail out public transit and CIDs.

The Transportation Investment Act of 2010 divided Georgia into Regions, so folks could share their county sales tax revenue with their neighbors in other counties.  It smelled like an Obama plan.
