DeKalb GOP Convention begins Feb 7

The DeKalb Republican Party has been dysfunctional for some time. It was set up to be a volunteer local, county-wide, political party organization.  The goals should be to advance the principles stated in the RNC Platform and Resolutions and the US Constitution.  But since 2009, federal bribes to states have silenced Georgia Republican leaders and these principles are not being advanced.  I trust that many Georgia counties have dysfunctional political parties. The group who controls these party organizations are closely tied to elected representatives and are not friendly toward newcomers. They are there to protect the status quo.
The dysfunction needs to be replaced by party officers who are willing to follow rules that are designed to increase participation and advance the party.
Every two years, Republican voters are invited to participate in a convention cycle.  The last one was in 2013 and the cycle for 2015 is about to begin.
The first convention meeting is on Saturday morning February 7, 2015 starting at 9am to Noon at Lakeside High School.  This is the Mass Precinct Meeting, where voters sit by voting precinct to elect Precinct Officers and sign up. Cost is $30.
The second convention meeting is on Saturday morning March 14, 2015 starting at 9am to Noon at Lakeside High School.  This is the County Meeting, where attendees vote for County Officers and sign up to become Delegates and Alternates.
There is a third convention meeting by US Congressional District on Saturday morning April 18, meeting place TBD.
The fourth and final convention meeting is the State Convention, normally in Athens GA, on May 15 for meetings and on May 16 to elect State Officers.
