US K12 Student Achievement

In 2015, the Program for International Student Assessment published scores

The US ranked 24th in Science, 38th in Math and 24th in Reading.  Singapore ranked 1st in Science, 1st in Math and 1st in Reading.

Singapore tests their K-12 students after 6th grade and those who fail the test are transferred to “trade school” to learn to be laborers, maids, cab drivers and janitors. They did not participate in this test of 15 year-olds.

Japan ranked 2nd. They pack the basics into K-12.

I suspect that the countries whose students are scoring higher than US students have not abandoned teaching to the test. The US has strayed away from teaching relevant occupational courses in favor of easier less relevant courses aimed at indoctrination to leftist agendas..

In the US we had already ruined our K-12 students with gender-neutral titles, new math, common core, sex education, community activism for “social justice” and inadequate reading, math and science teaching. The US then offered college courses that didn’t require math or science. Students also learned to be “snowflakes” complaining of micro-aggressions. The political indoctrination had begun. Colleges poured $billions into fancy campus expansions to attract unprepared students and costs doubled annually.

Graduates with BS degrees in political science, gender studies, African studies, ethnography, applied linguistics, art education, art history, jazz studies, musical instrument studies, sociology, Asian studies, ceramics, disruptive innovation, communications, creative writing, deaf studies, drawing and painting, education informatics, event management, exercise science, film and media studies may find it unlikely that these degrees will lead to gainful employment.   (source: Georgia State University).
