Earth Temperature History 9-24-24

Enormous changes in the global climate were occurring about 10,000 years ago. The great North American ice sheets began to melt rapidly about 14,000 years ago and by 7,000 years ago they were gone. As the glaciers melted the summers became much warmer, creating very different conditions for plants and animals.

Ice cores. Ice sheets and glaciers contain layers of compacted snow, which traps air bubbles, isotopes and dust over thousands of years. Drilling an ice core provides a cross-section of that climate information.

Climate Change Over the Past 100 Years: Global surface temperature has been measured since 1880 through a network of ground-based and ocean-based sites. Over the last century, the average surface temperature of the Earth has increased by about 1.0o F.  From 1880 to 1930, Earth Temperatures were colder by about 1.0 F. From 1930 to 2024 Earth Temperatures were warmer by about 1.0 F.

All we know is that the average Earth Temperature has bounced up 1.0 F. We have no idea what Earth Temperatures will be from 2024 to 2050. I suspect the panic over Climate Change is politically motivated. Earth History suggests that Earth Temperatures tend to bounce between warming and cooling within reasonable limits that are sustainable for humans.
