will bring a whole new beginning for congressional Republicans, and, many hope,
a new speaker. House Speaker John Boehner has never had the backing of the more
conservative wing of his party, and since he worked with President Obama and
the Democrats to pass the so-called “Chromnibus” budget bill, his standing has
fallen even lower. Now
a move is underway to advance a new speaker,
Representative Trey Gowdy (R-SC).
Gowdy is seen
as a formidable challenger to Boehner. He was at the forefront of questioning
IRS employee Lois Lerner as well as Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber. The
“Draft Gowdy for Speaker” campaign is alive and growing on social media:
