The monthly jobs report shows jobs added in 2021 by month

The US jobs deficit for January 2021 is 9.5 million minus 3.843 million jobs added = 5.657 million deficit.

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 943,000 in July and the unemployment rate declined from 5.9% to 5.4%. The number of unemployed persons fell by 782,000, from 9.482 million to 8.7 million.

Leisure and hospitality increased by 380,000 in July. This included 253,000 in food and drink, 74,000 in lodging, 53,000 in entertainment.

Education jobs increased by 115,000 in July, 75,000 in state public education and 40,000 in private education. Education Employment is down from February 2020 levels in local government education by 205,000, state government education by 207,000 and private education by 255,000 for a total deficit of 837,000.

Health care added 37,000 jobs in July. Job gains in ambulatory health care services (+32,000) and hospitals (+18,000) more than offset a loss of 13,000 jobs in nursing and residential care facilities. Health care employment is down by 502,000 since February 2020.

Manufacturing increased by 27,000 in July, largely in durable goods manufacturing. Within durable goods, job gains occurred in machinery (+7,000) and miscellaneous durable goods manufacturing (+6,000). Manufacturing employment is 433,000 below its February 2020 level.

Media/Information jobs increased by 24,000 in July, with three-quarters of the gain in motion picture and sound recording industries (+18,000). Employment in information is down by 172,000 since February 2020.

Financial activity jobs rose by 22,000 over the month, largely in real estate, rental and leasing (+18,000). Employment in financial activities is down by 48,000 since February 2020.

Mining jobs increased by 7,000 in July, reflecting a gain in support activities for mining (+6,000). Mining employment has risen by 49,000 since a trough in August 2020 but is 103,000 below a peak in January 2019.

Retail jobs decreased by 6000 in July. Job gains in gasoline stations (+14,000), miscellaneous store retailers (+7,000), and non-store retailers (+5,000) were more than offset by a loss in building material and garden supply stores (-34,000). Since February 2020, employment in retail trade is down by 270,000.

Transportation and warehousing added 50,000 jobs in July. Job growth occurred in transit and ground passenger transportation (+19,000), warehousing and storage (+11,000), and couriers and messengers (+8,000). Employment in transportation and warehousing has grown by 534,000 since April 2020; the industry has recovered 92.9 percent of the jobs lost during the February-April 2020 recession (-575,000).

The other services industry added 39,000 jobs in July, with gains in membership associations and organizations (+17,000) and in personal and laundry services (+15,000). Employment in other services is 236,000 lower than in February 2020.

In July, employment showed little change in construction and wholesale trade.

Construction jobs showed little change in July. Construction employment in June lost 13000 jobs in nonresidential contractors (-15,000) and heavy and civil engineering construction (-11,000) were partially offset by a gain in residential specialty trade contractors (+13,000). Employment in construction is 238,000 lower than in February 2020.

Wholesale jobs showed little change in July. Wholesale trade added 21,000 jobs in June. Employment in wholesale trade is 192,000 lower than in February 2020.

In February 2020 the US Jobs Deficit was 9.5 million.  US Unemployment by industry has deficits since February 2020.

The US Jobs deficit was 9.5 million in January 2021. This is the shortfall between jobs held in February 2020 vs July 2021.

Over 1 million illegal immigrants entered the US since January 2100. I expect they will take food service, landscaping, construction and drug cartel jobs.
