Sanctuary States 3-16-25

According to current information, states often considered "sanctuary states" include: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, Vermont and DC as they have policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement to varying degrees.

There's no definitive, universally agreed-upon number, but the Center for Immigration Studies estimates around 170 or more cities, counties, and states that can be considered "sanctuary jurisdictions," meaning they have policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.

DOJ is filing lawsuits against Sanctuary States, Counties and Cities. The US Federal Government is responsible for Immigration Policy in the US. The DOJ is expecting the Supreme Court to agree that Federal Law overrides State and Local laws.
