About 300,000 United States federal civil service layoffs have been announced by the second Trump administration,[2] almost all of them attributed to the Department of Government Efficiency.[3][4] On August 26, 2025, the Partnership for Public Service said just under 200,000 federal workers had already left their jobs.[5] As of July 14, 2025, CNN has tracked at least 128,709 workers laid off or targeted for layoffs.[6] As of May 12, 2025, The New York Times tracked more than 58,500 confirmed cuts, more than 76,000 employee buyouts, and more than 149,000 other planned reductions; cuts total 12% of the 2.4 million civilian federal workers.[

View the list of DOGE selected Agencies posted by Wikipedia at the web address above. I don’t expect that all of these Agencies will be included in the lay-offs. Some of these Agencies are backlogged or short of staff. Some Agencies like USAID have already had lay-offs. Other Funded Programs are not in this list. Wikipedia has gone “Woke” and I don’t share their concerns.
In years past, the Shutdown only affected the State Parks and Tourist Sites. Congress needs to pass a law to eliminate the Senate Shutdown Rule with an automatic Concurrent Resolution. All Discretionary Appropriations should be subject to cancellation based on current needs. DOGE should remain as a permanent entity.
