Georgia Data Center Opposed 10-18-25

A data center project called "Project Turbo" is proposed near Lake Lanier in Hall County, potentially using the lake for water, with a developer attempting to secure approval in October 2025. There is also a separate proposal in Forsyth County by HadjPadj Technologies for a data center, with a conditional use permit requested. Both proposals have faced local concerns over their potential impact on water and power supplies.

Project Turbo (Hall County)

Developer: The company behind "Project Turbo" has stated it has arranged for its own power supply through Georgia Power, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Location: The project is located on O'Kelly Road, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.

Concerns: Residents and planning officials have expressed concerns about the project's potential impact on both power and water supplies, as the data center would use municipal water from Lake Lanier, according to FOX 5 Atlanta and Facebook groups.

Status: The Hall County Commission was scheduled to vote on the project in late October 2025, as reported by Facebook groups.

HadjPadj Technologies (Forsyth County)

Developer: Viral Chhadua, a data center developer with HadjPadj Technologies, has filed a conditional use permit application.

Location: The proposed location is near Ga. 369 at Jot Em Down Road, near Lake Lanier, according to Appen Media.

Status: Forsyth County commissioners have been reviewing their planning code to specifically govern data centers, according to Appen Media.

The data center proposal near Lake Lanier in 2025 is known as "Project Turbo," proposed by Williams Brothers Development. The company has submitted plans for the facility in Hall County, near Gainesville.

Key details about the project and its status:

Location: The facility is planned for a 145-acre site on O'Kelly Road in Hall County.

Size: It is a 900,000-square-foot facility, planned to include three buildings.

Concerns and delays: The proposal has faced significant pushback from residents and officials due to its potential impact on the local power grid and, especially, the water supply from Lake Lanier. Critics worry about potential water shortages, citing previous drought conditions.

Developer's claims: Williams Brothers Development states the project would generate millions in tax revenue and create jobs. They also claim the facility will use separate power and only excess municipal water capacity. However, some residents and officials remain skeptical of these assurances.

Project status: The Hall County Planning Commission delayed a vote on the project multiple times in late 2025 to seek more information on its resource impacts. As of October 2025, a vote was scheduled for later in the month.

Comments

The proposed Data Center does not include its own power supply. Hall County residents don’t want their Electricity Bills to increase. Data Centers need to provide their own power supplies and should not be allowed to interfere with Lake Lanier land according to residents.  Hadjpadji technologies inc. is not identified via google ai. See: https://hadjpadj.tech/.

This project is currently “on hold”.
