The Box

Our Founding Fathers built a box to keep their new government contained and out of trouble. The box is the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the Amendments. Over time, events have prompted Presidents, legislators and the courts to let the government out of its box.  The one violation that paid off was the Louisiana Purchase by Thomas Jefferson.  Since then, not so much.
A good way to determine what needs to be rolled back is to see how well the government has done with its myriad of violations since 1803.  Fast forward to 2012.

We find that the costs of retirement, healthcare, education, legal defense, entitlement programs and government itself are unsustainable.

Government subsidies have caused the costs of these services to move far beyond the average individual’s ability to purchase these services themselves.  The rational thing to do is to make changes that will lower these costs.  Insiders, including insurance and pharmaceutical companies are encouraged to scream now…

So far, other costs are sustainable, but the government is working on making energy too expensive as we speak.  Next they will “fix” food, shelter and water and then we’re dead.  We will become the USSA, within the North American Alliance, a wholly owned subsidiary of the UN, with an economy and communist government identical to the failed USSR.

This government overreach is now unsustainable and our elected leaders are either unable or unwilling to pull their failed systems back and reinvent them.  The good news for us is that we voters do know how to close down these failed experiments and we are motivated to do so.

Just closing the Federal Reserve will end inflation, force the government to hold expenses below revenue, restore interest rates to 6% and remove the global mischief slush fund.

It is odd that the Federal Reserve System needs to be removed before we can transfer the responsibility to save for retirement back to the individual, but it’s true.  (read post: Saving Retirement 7-21-12).

When education was all home schooling supplemented by private colleges, we had the best education system on the planet.  When we installed public schools, we plunged to the bottom of the global pile.  Vouchers are a good start to begin to dismantle this left-wing political indoctrination camp.

Medicare enacted in the 1960s heralded the beginnings of double digit healthcare cost increases.  The pile-on after that broke the entire system.  Snake-bite treatment is now $250,000 for a 4 day hospital stay.

Mission creep and a lot of white collar crime brought the cost of government way beyond anything we can afford.  Government works for “special interests”.  Voters need to force government to shed unconstitutional and unnecessary functions and cut their cost in half.  And then, cut their costs in half again until they are back in the Box.  The same goes for State and local government.

To save ourselves from disaster, we need to elect candidates who will make the right changes to pull us back from the abyss.  We haven’t much time.  Government is already working on shutting down our water, bankrupting our food producers, forcing unnecessary “clean air” regulations on our energy producers and grabbing our property.
