Muslim
Truck Drivers Fired for Refusing to Deliver Beer
What ever happened to religious
freedom in America? Isn’t this one of the founding
principles of this country? Well, now the Federal Government is taking sides on employer
disputes involving religious beliefs:
A jury has awarded $240,000 in damages
to two Muslim truck drivers who sued their former employer for religious
discrimination after they were fired for refusing to make beer deliveries.
The Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission won the case on behalf of the Obama administration.
Critics have pointed out that the
administration has taken a different position when it comes to defending
Christians’ religious liberty, as the drivers’ argument was similar to the one
made by Kim Davis when she refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
These Muslims weren’t fired for
their religious beliefs. They were fired for refusing to do their jobs.
Likewise, Kim Davis wasn’t held in
contempt for her religious beliefs. She was held because she refused to do the
job she was elected to perform.
Either the Fed got it wrong on the
Kim Davis case, or they ruled incorrectly in this case.
Or, the equal protection of
religious expression really doesn’t matter anymore.
