The US has always tended to spread out of cities into suburbs and exurbs and this continues. But now families and individuals are moving away from high tax and crime-ridden cities and states.

New York lost 468,293. San Francisco lost 65528. San Jose lost 42007

Large expensive cities are loosing population.
