Somalia Economy 5-7-25

Somalia's nominal GDP is projected to be around $13.89 billion in 2025. In 2020, it was $9.2 billion.  

Somalia's population is projected to increase from approximately 18.1 million in 2023 to 19.65 million in 2025.

Somalia's nominal GDP per capita was $597.46 in 2023 and is projected to be $766.01 in 2025. In 2020, it was $518.18478.

Somalia’s Unemployment Rate is 14.03%.

From 2020 to the present, Somalia's exports have seen a general increase, with total exports reaching $1.03 billion in 2023, a significant jump from earlier years. The country's top exports include livestock (especially sheep and goats), gold, and various other goods. The main export destinations are the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Oman.

Somalia's debt-to-GDP ratio, while fluctuating, has generally shown a decreasing trend from 2020 to 2024. In 2020, the debt-to-GDP ratio was at 64%, but by 2023, it had decreased to 6.4% due to debt relief efforts.

In 2025, Somalia is facing a multifaceted crisis with several interconnected challenges: a severe drought leading to widespread food insecurity and malnutrition, ongoing conflict and insecurity, and the threat of Al-Shabaab attacks. These issues are exacerbated by limited access to healthcare and rising food prices.

Somalia has a low GDP, a high Population, a very low Per Capita GDP and a high Unemployment %.

Somalia also has an Islamic Terror Group and needs to have it removed.
