Iran Sanctions 6-9-25

In 2025, the U.S. continues to apply comprehensive sanctions against Iran, including a ban on most U.S. trade, asset freezes, and restrictions on foreign assistance and arms sales. These sanctions are aimed at limiting Iran's ability to finance terrorism, engage in regional aggression, and develop its nuclear program. The U.S. has also taken actions targeting individuals and entities involved in Iran's nuclear-related activities and the illicit trade of Iranian oil and petrochemical products.

Key aspects of the current sanctions regime:

Breath of Sanctions: The U.S. sanctions cover a wide range of activities with Iran, including trade, finance, travel, and specific sectors like aviation and nuclear development.

Targeted Sanctions: The U.S. has designated numerous individuals and entities, both Iranian and non-Iranian, for involvement in activities that violate sanctions.

EU and UK Involvement: The EU and UK have also imposed sanctions on Iran, including those related to human rights abuses and Iran's nuclear program.

JCPOA and Snapback: The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) remains a factor, with the snapback mechanism allowing for the re-imposition of UN Security Council sanctions if Iran fails to comply with its commitments.

Recent Developments:

Sanctions on Nuclear Enablers: The U.S. has taken actions targeting entities involved in procuring or manufacturing critical technologies for Iran's nuclear program.

Sanctions on Illicit Traders: The U.S. continues to target individuals and entities involved in the illicit trade of Iranian oil and petrochemical products.

EU Sanctions: The EU has expanded its sanctions regime against Iran, including new restrictions on exporting certain components and materials.

Nuclear Negotiations: Discussions between Iran and the U.S. regarding a potential interim deal or a return to the JCPOA continue, with Iran demanding clearer guarantees regarding sanctions relief.

The US should give Israel the “bunker bombs” and let Israel wipe out Iran’s Nuclear Facilities.
