Want more proof that liberal
policies are a failure in effective, responsible government? Leading
Progressive voices, such as Bernie Sanders, call for massive investment in improving
our roads, highways, and bridges. Didn’t we hear this Progressive promise
before? Remember all those ”shovel ready jobs” the
Obama Stimulus Plan promised?
Well, based on this recent study,
there are 10 Major Urban Areas Where
More than HALF of Roads Are in Poor Condition. What else is in common in
these cities? All have enjoyed decades of a culture of inept, wasteful liberal
government leadership.
URBAN AREA
/ PERCENT OF ROADS IN POOR CONDITION
San Francisco–Oakland, CA 74%
Los Angeles–Long Beach–Santa Ana, CA
73%
Concord, CA 62%
Detroit, MI 56%
San Jose, CA 53%
Cleveland, OH 52%
New York–Newark, NY 51%
San Diego, CA 51%
Grand Rapids, MI 51%
Honolulu, HI 51%
(The biggest shock was that Detroit wasn’t higher on the list.) Of course, the problem, as always, is
“lack of funding.” Quick, Congress pass a bill to throw more cash at these
inept liberal cities so they can waste it… once again:
“The nation’s rough roads stress
nerves and cost billions in unnecessary vehicle replacement, repair and fuel
costs,” said Jill Ingrassia, AAA managing director of government relations and traffic
safety advocacy. “Full investment in our nation’s transportation system will
reduce the financial burden on drivers and provide them with a smoother, safer
and more efficient ride.”
The federal government is a critical
source of funding for road and highway repairs. But the lack of adequate
funding beyond the expiration of the current federal surface transportation
program, MAP-21 (Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act), which
expires on July 31, 2015, threatens the future condition of the nation’s roads
and highways.
“The long-term preservation and
maintenance of our national transportation system depends on federal
investment,” said Bud Wright, executive director of the American Association
of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). “We can do better than the uncertainty of short-term
extensions. America needs Congress to fully fund a multi-year surface
transportation bill.”
No America does NOT need Congress to
fund a multi-year surface transportation bill. America needs to stop electing
liberals who have no idea how to fix things and get the job done.

The US tax dollars that should have gone to
fixing roads have been squandered by Obama.
