Boehner ran a “top-down” congress and will be remembered as
the “last minute Speaker”, who called for votes before anybody could read the
Bills. He restricted what Bills would
come to a vote based on avoiding a government shutdown. He presided over the
trashing of actual Conservatives and diminished their numbers to about 20%. He
thought being a Republican made him a “conservative”. After 25 years of dealing with the “devil”,
he became its defender. He led the charge in trashing the Republican
Brand. His brand of Republicanism had no
problem ignoring the US Constitution (as written). Consequently, these
“establishment Republicans” drove their voting scores down below 50%. Boehner
retired with a score of 34%
Constitutional Conservatives like Ron Paul and Paul Broun
voted NO on ALL Bills that were unconstitutional and retired with a score of
100%. Ron Paul’s predictions all came
true, but he was treated as a pariah.
Rand Paul and Ted Cruz have voted NO on unconstitutional Bills and score
in the 95% range. If all members of the
House and Senate had voted in compliance with the Constitution since 1913, we
wouldn’t be bankrupt.
Nobody is happy except 80% of the House members themselves.
They are pleased to have Paul Ryan as Speaker.
Paul Ryan’s score on Conservative Review Scorecard is 44%
with a grade of F, usually described as a “Threat to Liberty. Paul Ryan will not “protect and defend the
Constitution” 66% of the time. He never has and he never will. He is a Democrat-Lite “budget wonk”. The
Speaker job requires judgment, not cunning. Paul Ryan is elected “Speaker” so
we will likely see a continuance of lame Democrat-enabling legislation, but at
a higher rate and volume.
His Numbers USA scorecard gives him a grade of D-. Stopping
immigration is the key to making jobs available to US citizens.
There is a disconnect between Conservative Republican Voters
and the US Congress. Voters have seen NO
effective pushback from Republicans on the destructive Obama Blitzkrieg. They distinctly remember electing a
Republican House and Senate. Grassroots are outraged that these Republicans
they elected to stop Obama have been either unwilling or unable to stop or
reverse any of Obama’s unconstitutional violations. The problem is that real
Conservatives have been under attack and are treated a pariahs in Congress.
Paul Ryan is a populist and that’s a start, but big question
is, what bills Paul Ryan will choose as priorities. He vows to open up the
process to allow committees to function and that’s a good thing. He knows that
80% of Congress votes like Democrats, even most Republicans. He also knows that
they will not vote the way he votes. He is a realist. He knows that Congress needs to lose hundreds
of Socialist-leaning Senators and Reps before free market, private sector
oriented policies can be passed.
Paul Ryan’s votes have been conservative on abortion. He is
pro-traditional marriage, He is conservative on spending and budget, but has
voted for grants to states. He voted against “green subsidies”, gay political
power, unnecessary regulations, but he voted for HUD rent supplements. His low
score at 44% comes from years of voting Yes on Budgets and CRs that are loaded
with unconstitutional activities. He also votes for bad trade deals because he
thinks Republicans should be for trade.
