Life
expectancy rose from age 47 to age 54 after 1920, when US cities began to treat
drinking water with chlorine and install sewage treatment to prevent typhoid.
It rose again from 54 to 67 after 1945, because of the release of penicillin to
treat infected wounds and infectious diseases like small pox, scarlet fever,
influenza and other diseases.
1950 67
1940 62
1930 60
1920 54

1900 47
Social
Security Retirement was passed in 1933 to provide retirement funds at age 65
and the life expectancy in 1933 was age 60.7 for men and 65.1 for women. All
funds were collected from individuals and corporations and given to the US
Treasury rather than individual accounts. It was a revenue stream for the US
Congress.
The US
Death Rate ranges around 8 to 9 deaths per 1000.
