2026 Midterm Election 4-21-25

The Midterm Elections are scheduled for November 2026, when all US House seats and a third of US Senate seats will be up for grabs. It’s time to assess the odds of Republicans continuing to hold the House and Senate. I go back to the 2024 Presidential Election to begin this assessment.

Candidate   Popular Vote   Electoral Votes

Trump          77,302,580             312

Harris          75,017,613             226

Total         152,320,193              538

The popular vote was close and split slightly in favor of Trump with 49.8% and Harris with 48.3%. It was a close election and was confirmed as such with a 6 seat Republican advantage in the Senate and a 6 seat Republican advantage in the House.

4 years of the Biden Administration brought record Cumulative Inflation at 30%, High prices on food, rent, homes and gasoline overtook household incomes. Private Sector jobs fell and Wages did not keep up with Inflation. Open borders with 16,000 to 20,000 unvetted Illegal Immigrants poured into the US. Wars in Ukraine and Israel and a botched retreat from Afghanistan occurred. Illegal Immigrant Crime brought chiaos to US Cities. Democrat Soros championed open borders and funded the campaigns of Democrat District Attorneys who would not hold or prosecute criminals. US Voters couldn’t take any more screw-ups.

Trump clearly listed his Agenda throughout the Campaign and enough voters voted for him. Traditional Black and Hispanic Democrat Voters and Blue Colar Voters voted for Trump. Republicans volunteered in droves to monitor every election site to ensure that cheating would be stopped.

Trump selected the best Cabinet Secretaries and Agency Directors I have ever seen in my memory. DOGE has identified $150 billion in fraud, waste and abuse and is introducing AI with upgraded systems to automate government functions to avoid fraud, waste and abuse..

The spotlight is on the Trade and Tariff Reset Trump needs to address our Defense and Automation needs and cut taxes to enable job creation and move the Middle Class to affordability before 2026.

The “Report Card” for Republicans will come in November 2026, when they will see how voters vote in the Midterm Election.

Democrats will work to thwart the Trump Agenda using Democrat Federal District Court Judges to sabotage the Agenda.

Trump will have all challenges reviewed in the Appellate Courts and the Supreme Court.

Our chances to elect Republicans in November 2026 look good so far, but we need to weed out the duds. Republican volunteers will be needed again to monitor election. Filling the Republican Bench for the next election is underway.

Byron Donalds, Florida Congressman is running for Governor as Trump’s pick in November 2026.  Ron DeSantis is limited to two terms, but will likely win whatever he runs for.

Brian Kemp, Georgia Governor is limited to two terms and is due to be replaced in November 2026, but no candidates are appearing yet. Trump won Georgia with 50.72% v Harris who had 48.52%. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene has expressed interest.

With the Midterm Election scheduled for November 2026, Trump has 19 months between April 2025 and November 2026 to gain voter support. Trump will keep the Republican Party ahead of schedule to ensure that candidates will have ample time to campaign early for the Primaries in August 2026.

The Trump Team will need to show successful results in implementing enough of the Agenda to win the Midterm Election in 2026. Increasing US Jobs and Household Income is required. Reversing inflation and restoring affordability are also required. Tax reductions and completing deportation of Illegals is required. Lowering government spending by removing fraud, waste and abuse is required along with upgrading government systems to allow effective automation is required.

Building large modern manufacturing facilities will take time, but there should be enough progress to convince voters that the Trump Administration will succeed.

Norb Leahy, Dunwoody GA Tea Party Leader
