Our financial data is kept and operates electronically. Our utilities operate electronically. Our cars operate electronically.
The use of the Electromagnetic Pulse Weapon would wipe out all electronic databases and fry all electronic circuits. The US has this weapon and so does everybody else. It replaces nuclear war. The death toll is lower, but all economies would collapse. All electronic devices would fry and would need to be replaced. It would make all Left-Wing Democrat Protests look like a picnic.
Protecting electronically stored data requires that we continue to improve our hardware and software to prevent hacking and downloading. AI should be helpful and this could take time. We struggled with virus attacks on our PCs from 1995 to 2005. Malware arrived and continues to be monitored. I use Webroot to test my PC.
The current “cyber security” safeguards have made many websites unnavigable including most government websites. When I “update” my Microsoft Word and Excel, my old search icons change. My email continues to be stuffed with Spam and my Internet vendor limits what I can declare as Spam. We gave up on Facebook after “family” added “friends”. I am told that the total number of email accounts are dropping. Best Buy's Geek Squad has canceled its $100 annual fee and is charging $40 for each “remote” cleaning. My son-in-law is now my IT Guy.
Smartphones are now being used to pay bills and receive paychecks. These too can be hacked. Smartphones have been integrated into all business activities. Apps are being reported as open invitations to hack your cell phones.
Governments, Utilities and Financial Systems are investing in cyber security to protect their data systems from hacking and terror attacks. Israel was effective in arming Hazbolla’s Pagers. Technological advances in cyber war require countermeasures that are sure to come. This could take decades to control.

The first storm of the year fried my private Internet connection. I don't think it'll be coming back any time soon. The fragility of the connection reminds me how important it is to get essential (and personal) date OUT of the Internet and keep it out. I no longer accept electronic money transfers because emt services have not been forbidden to dip into clients' accounts. "In God we trust; others please pay cash."
