If the US wants the TPP to protect intellectual property
from foreign pirates, good luck. I doubt that these countries will do anything
about it. All we need is an intellectual
property mutual agreement with countries that says we will protect each-others’
intellectual property. If they don’t
agree, we don’t do business with them.
If the US wants to sell rice and pork to the Japanese,
good luck. Island nations always protect their own food supply. Our own US
citizens would consume all the food we can manufacture in the US if we get the
mix and the price right.
If the US wants to sell cars and tractors to these
countries, I would ask how many of their citizens can even afford them and why
wouldn’t they make them off-shore closer to these customers.
US workers will oppose looser immigration policies for
service companies to lay them off and import more phony H1b visa holders.
Companies who engage in this kind of scheme will immediately soil their
reputations and future competitors will be encouraged to enter their markets.
US workers will oppose losing even more manufacturing to
other countries. They will head to their garages and invent devices to make current
products obsolete.
Face it. The only manufacturing we can attract is durable
goods using highly automated production processes, being made to be sold in the
US. We are waiting for the economic
advantages of having everything made in China to evaporate.
Foreign car manufacturers, and aerospace companies are
already here.
We already do trade with the countries listed in the TPP,
so why do we need to form “trade cartels”? That doesn’t even sound like “free-trade”.
Free trade is really trade between companies with no government interference.
Why would we expose ourselves to law suits by foreign
companies in courts controlled by the corporate global “puppet masters”.
Why would we trust the same corrupt government who
squandered trillions of dollars and put us in this mess? We don’t think it’s
about trade. We think it’s another “open borders scam” coupled with exporting
our sovereignty to the global “puppet masters”.
