This
morning the House Budget Committee is pushing forward a measure that would
repeal major parts of Obamacare. President Obama is certain to veto the measure.
House
Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price said the goal is to "save the country
from this disastrous law."
The
measure would repeal the parts of Obamacare that force individuals to buy
health insurance and force larger employers to provide it. It would also repeal
the 40% tax on "Cadillac" insurance plans, those high cost plans
generally designed for more well-to-do patients. The
measure would also cut $390 million in Planned Parenthood funds over the next
year.
In
the meantime, according to USA Today, President Obama just signed a bill to
prevent an increase in insurance premiums for 3 million people. This would be
the 14th modification to the Affordable Care Act since its inception.
Author's
note:
Although the effort to repeal parts of Obamacare really doesn't have a
chance, it at least shows the issue is not forgotten. If the next elected
President is Republican then Obamacare will surely fall.
I
am not surprised at the number of changes that have had to be made. The Obama
administration will continue to tweak it to attempt to counteract the
unintended consequences and with the hopes to produce the results they
originally anticipated. The only problem is socialist systems are inherently
faulty. I predict (should Obamacare stay in effect) they will never get the
results they have promised, they will in fact get the opposite.
