Have
you watched the TV program, “Person of Interest”?
It’s
a show about how a billionaire computer genius designed a data system to
predict when terrorist acts and crimes are about to happen. Is it Hollywood
fiction… or is it real?
Check
out this chilling New York Times post on predictive policing: At a time when many police departments are
under fire for aggressive tactics, particularly in minority neighborhoods,
advocates say predictive policing can help improve police-community relations
by focusing on the people most likely to become involved in violent crime.
Civil
liberties groups take a dim view of the strategy, questioning its legality and
efficacy, and asserting that it may actually worsen the rapport between the
police and civilians.
Ezekiel
Edwards, the director of the Criminal Law Reform Project of the American Civil
Liberties Union, said predictive policing tended to legitimize the profiling of
racial minorities who live in poor, high-crime neighborhoods, and prompted
officers to enforce laws selectively.
“Our
concern is guilt by association,” Mr. Edwards said. “Because you live in a
certain neighborhood or hang out with certain people, we are now going to be
suspicious of you and treat you differently, not because you have committed a
crime or because we have information that allows us to arrest you, but because
our predictive tool shows us you might commit a crime at some point in the
future.”
At
a time when trust is low with police departments, is it wise to give them a
powerful tool such as this? Yes, it could help identify violent crime patterns
and even individuals likely to commit a violent crime. But at what price to
protect our diminishing freedoms and privacy?

NAZI
Germany used all means to root out those who opposed Hitler’s laws. He sent their own children to spy on their
parents. He sent neighbors to spy on
neighbors. Free speech was
verboten. That gave Hitler “cover” to
continue his delusional behavior. The
Police State he created stifled decent, but these terrified Germans were blamed
along with the NAZI cheerleaders.
We have a
similar situation, but without stifling free speech. All it requires is
ignoring and dismissing the free speech. Obama’s repressive policies are allowed by
Congress and the Courts, because 80% of them are NAZI cheerleaders who ignore
the complaints and polls that reject Obama’s policies.
But, in
the end, the voters will be blames for US bankruptcy and global depression that
could lead to the end of America and all sovereign countries being dissolved
and folded into global tyrannical communist government.
