Dunwoody’s High Street Project

High Street is a 36 acre project that would build 1500 new condos and 1500 new apartment units, just up from the State Farm and Transwestern office buildings at Perimeter Center on Hammond Drive. This would include 3 story townhomes fronting Perimeter Center Parkway, 4 apartment buildings up to 12 stories high and a 30 story Residential Tower, all with retail and restaurants on the first 2 stories, joined later by a 21 story office tower and hotel complex, a parking garage and a ¾ acre park. A theater and grocery store are included in the plan.  GID Development of Boston bought the property 10 years ago and it was zoned by DeKalb in 2007.  Construction will begin in 2017 on the first phase to be completed by 2021. This is like seeing how many fraternity brothers you can fit into a phone booth. Just when we thought we were overbuilt and the DeKalb sanitary sewer capacity is maxed out and the 300 sewer pipe leaks are under the gun by the EPA. I hope everybody has a chair to land on when the music stops. See “Becoming Venezuela”.
