Selecting Better Candidates 11-10-24

We need to return to an Informed Electorate to attract Candidates for Elective Office at all levels from City, County, State and Federal. These candidates need to provide websites with their full resumes that indicate their business backgrounds, party affiliation and their positions on all issued. They need to convince voters that they are committed to supporting the US Constitution and current US Laws. They need to demonstrate that they understand the US Free Market Economy. Like our Founders, they need to have a background as business owners. They need to be thoroughly vetted by their political parties.

We have allowed our Education System to produce our uninformed electorate and need to restore it to ensure that all students learn to read, write and do math. Our High School Grads should all be prepared to function as adults to balance their checkbooks, prepare their own taxes and understand contracts. They need to know the laws they will be expected to obey. They need to know Nutrition to avoid obesity. They need to learn what they do well and enjoy doing so they will be successful at their chosen occupations. They need to know what these occupations pay and what their household budgets will allow. They may need to live at home until they are able to be self-supporting.

We have lowered the US Voting Age to 18 and at the same time we have extended their childhood to age 21. We should have left the Voting age at 21 and accelerated their transition to adulthood to age 18. They need to work and figure out what occupations they believe they will do well and enjoy doing. Selecting their occupations should be settled by analysis or trial and error by the time students are 18. We need to support Occupational Degrees and Licenses. All other learning unrelated to occupations should be “self-learning” that should not qualify for college loans.

The cost of Elections are too high. The cost of the 2024 Election was $14 Billion. Most of it was TV Ads and these need to be replaced by websites, televised interviews and rallies. We need our elected officials to work for the Voters, not the Campaign Contributors.

We have allowed our Campaign Contribution Laws to allow Outside Money to corrupt the Election Process. The ability to make Campaign Contributions should be restricted to “Voters Only” with a limit of $1000 they could contribute to each candidate who appears on their Ballots. This will result in NO TV ADS. Candidates would be required to set up their Websites to include their fully vetted resumes and positions on all issues before they are allowed to file for election.

We need to find candidates who have experience as business owners and who understand Free Market Economics and give them the mandate to reduce the Federal Debt and Debt Interest. Inflation needs to be reduced to 1% per year.

Candidates for city and county governments need to cut spending to the “basics” like road, water and sewer maintenance. School Boards should stop using Bonds to fund new schools and maintain schools to last 100 years. Candidates for State jobs should cut spending to allow the Federal Government to reduce Grants to States.
