Shared Vision 11-10-24

Our First 5 Presidents shared the same vision for the US. They developed the infrastructure needed to improve commerce and expansion to include the original Colonial Territories won from the French in 1765 and the Louisiana Purchase of land to the Mississippi River in 1802. The US completed its expansion with the Mexican War in 1848. This completed the expansion of the US. President Andrew Jackson gets the credit for pushing for expansion and President Polk gets the credit for completing the US expansion. Polk also secured the Oregon Territory and stabilized the US-Canada Border. It took 46 years from 1802 to 1848 to complete the US Expansion. Populating the West with settlers became the next goal to accomplish and the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad in 1869 reduced the journey from Months to Days.

The next shared vision was to settle the new territory in the West from 1848. Wagon Trains continued to move West from 1848 to 1869. The invention of the Steam Engine allowed for the creation of the Intercontinental Railroad that began in 1863 and was completed in 1869. By 1893, the West was settled.

The American Indian Wars that began in 1609 were winding down by the 1880s and ended with the Apachee War in 1924. The American Indian War lasted for 315 years. The North American Indian population is estimated at 12 million in 1600. The North American Indian population is estimated at 237,000 in 1900. Many North and South American Indians died from diseases brought by Europeans for which they had no immunity. Many European Settlers were killed by North American Indians, who viewed their presence as a systemic threat to their way of life. Their Religion encouraged them to view land ownership as contrary to their culture. In 1924, with the establishment of Indian Reservation, Indians were allowed to leave the Reservation and assimilate into the US culture and many did this. In 2012, there were more than 2.5 million Native Americans, with 1 million living on reservations.

When Teddy Roosevelt took office in 1901, following the assassination of President William McKinley the Shared Vision was about to shift to expansion beyond the Continental US and started with the Spanish American War. American Colonies were established in Hawaii in 1898, in the Philippines in 1902. Roosevelt seized territory from Panama to build the Panama Canal in 1904. It was completed in 1914. Hawaii became a US State in 1959. Cuba became Communist in 1965. The Philippines gained independence in 1946. Panama took over the Canal in 1999.

Over the past 150 years, our shared vision has been eroded.  We were distracted by Labor Union violence in 1877, World War 1 in 1917, the Great Depression in 1929, World War 2 in 1941, the Vietnam War in 1965 and Marxist driven Welfare and Big Government and we will go broke unless we change course. This Era was also marked by our success in the Industrial Revolution, water purification, advances in Medicine, advances in Transportation and advances in Technology that improved our Standard of Living.

We are divided 50-50 and have not regained our “Shared Vision” advantage, but we have a chance to shift more voter support to the MAGA Movement founded by President Trump in 2016. We need to reduce our $36 trillion National Debt and reduce our $1 trillion debt interest by reducing non-critical Federal Spending from $7 trillion a year back to $4 trillion a year to match current Federal Revenue. Foreign Aid is $1 trillion, Grants to States is $1 trillion, Welfare is $1 trillion and Debt Interest is $1 trillion.

We can’t cut Social Security or Medicare, but we can cut Foreign Aid, Unnecessary Regulations and Taxes. We can impose Reciprocal Trade to lower tariffs imposed on US Exports.  We can return manufacturing jobs back to the US by reducing our Corporate Tax from 21% to 15% to apply to all companies who return jobs to the US. We can increase jobs and decrease welfare costs.

We can restore basic skills to our Education System and replace Marxist Ideology with Reading, Writing and Math. We can return to Energy Dominance and increase oil and natural gas production and reduce the price of oil to reduce revenue in Iran and Russia and end the wars. This will also and lower gasoline, nitrogen fertilizer costs and export our oil and natural gas to lower our US Trade Deficit. We can resume mining and produce our own computer chips. We can allow the Private Sector to resume Nuclear Power to strengthen the US electric grid and allow us to use AI. We can balance the Federal Budget, reduce the Interest Costs and reduce the National Debt. This is our new Shared Vision for the US.

Norb Leahy, Dunwoody GA Tea Party Leader
