Shutdown Sabotage 10-27-25

Allegations of sabotage arose during the 2025 federal government shutdown, which began on October 1, 2025, over a budget impasse. Some of the main points of contention included spending levels, foreign aid, and Affordable Care Act subsidies.

Below are the actions and statements that prompted claims of sabotage during the 2025 shutdown:

Targeted agency actions: Some government agencies began explicitly blaming Democrats for the shutdown on their websites and in employee emails, in what some ethics experts called a violation of the Hatch Act.

One example was a banner on the Department of Housing and Urban Development's website that claimed the "radical left" would "inflict massive pain on the American people" through the shutdown.

The Department of Defense also proposed widespread, random polygraph tests for its employees as part of an effort to stop leaks.

Political pressure and retaliation: The Trump administration engaged in several actions that critics described as political weaponization of the funding lapse:

Layoffs: President Trump threatened and carried out layoffs of federal employees, particularly those he deemed "Democrat oriented". A federal judge later halted these layoffs, ruling them unlawful and politically motivated.

Frozen funds: The administration froze nearly $26 billion in federal funds earmarked for Democrat-led states, including infrastructure and climate change initiatives.

Agency closures: The administration announced the closure of a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Denver, claiming it was for cost-saving reasons.

Budgetary tactics: President Trump's use of presidential rescission—the cancellation of appropriated funds—was a key factor in the budget negotiations.

After the Trump administration revived rescissions in July 2025, Democrats expressed fears that any budget they negotiated would be undone, complicating the entire process.

Intra-administration conflicts: An upcoming book by ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl, titled Retribution, revealed infighting and sabotage among Trump's cabinet officials during his 2024 transition, including an attempt to sink a cabinet nomination.

The shutdown, which began October 1, 2025, became the longest full government shutdown in U.S. history by late October, with congressional negotiations remaining at an impasse.

The Sabotage is coming from the Democrats.  The Outcomes of the Trump Plans are going “too well”. Democrats fear a “stomping” in the Midterm Elections in November 2026.  Democrats want to slow down Trump’s progress.

Families of unpaid Federal Employees need to step up and support those affected with the money so they need to pay their bills.
