Early History

Poland was ruled by Tribal Leaders to the 7th century AD.  The From the 700s AD The Popielid Monarchy ruled with a series of Dukes. In the 800s AD it was replaced by the Piast dynasty. In 1295 AD Poland crowned their first King. In 1296, King Wenceslaus of Bohemia was crowned High Duke of Poland. In 1306 AD the Piast dynasty returned to power. In 1370AD the Anjou dynasty took over Poland. In 1386 the Jagiellon dynasty took over Poland.  In 1573 the Valois dynasty took over Poland. In 1575 the Jadiellon dynasty took over Poland. In 1576 the Bathory dynasty took over Poland. In 1587, the Vasa dynasty took over Poland. In 1669 the Wisnoiwiecki dynasty took over Poland. In 1674 the Sobieski dynasty tool over Poland.

Siege of Vienna, (July 17–September 12, 1683), expedition by the Ottomans against the Habsburg Holy Roman emperor Leopold I that resulted in their defeat by a combined force led by John III Sobieski of Poland. The lifting of the siege marked the beginning of the end of Ottoman domination in eastern Europe.

In 1697 the Wettin dynasty took over Poland.  In 1704 the Leszczyriski dynasty took over Poland. In 1709 the Wettin dynasty returned to power. In 1733 the Leszczyriski dynasty returned to power. In 1764 the Wettin dynasty returned to power.

From 1807 to 1815 Poland was ruled by as Grand Duke from the Wettin dynasty.

Poland was ruled at various times either by dukes and princes (10th to 14th centuries) or by kings (11th to 18th centuries). During the latter period, a tradition of free election of monarchs made it a uniquely electable position in Europe (16th to 18th centuries).

Polish Occupation

In the periods 1795–1918 most of Poland was under Russian colonial occupation, and again in the period 1944–1993 (free election was held June 4 1989, but last Russian troops left Poland in 1993.

The occupation of Poland by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union during World War II (1939–1945) began with the Invasion of Poland in September 1939, and it was formally concluded with the defeat of Germany by the Allies in May 1945.

The Polish–Ottoman War of 1672–1676, a prelude to the Great Turkish War, was fought by the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Ottoman Empire.

A continuous presence of Islam in Poland began in the 14th century. From this time it was primarily associated with the Lipka Tatars, many of whom settled in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth while continuing their traditions and religious beliefs. The first significant non-Tatar groups of Muslims arrived in Poland in the 1970s, though they are a very small minority.

Polish Americans are most heavily concentrated in the Upper Midwest and Northeast regions of the United States. Wisconsin has the largest Polish American population, with 481,126 people identifying as Polish, making up 8.15% of the state's population.

Comments

Putin is obsessed with retaking Ukraine and the other Baltic Countries. His road to Poland is to retake Ukraine. The Polish have a history of insisting on self-rule. They are a member of the EU, but refused to take Muslim migrants in 2015.

Poland is obsessed with remaining an independent country and expanding their private sector economy.
