The US Supply Chain cost is impacted by Diesel fuel costs. This raises the prices of food and all other consumer goods. US railroads are unsafe and should not carry hazardous waste, but are also part of the US Supply Chain.
The transition to less polluting, lower-sulfur diesel fuels in the United States affected diesel fuel production and distribution costs. The federal excise tax for on-highway diesel fuel of 24.3 cents per gallon is 6 cents per gallon higher than the federal excise tax on gasoline.
The gasoline tax in California is 70 cents/gallon and is the highest State gas tax in the US. The cost of a gallon of Diesel fuel in California is about $5 per gallon. The US Federal gasoline tax is 18.4 cents.
The average gasoline tax in the US is 32.44 cents. The average gasoline tax for State and Federal is 50.84 cents per gallon.
The US Department of Transportation is offering $billions in grants to municipalities to build 12 foot multiuse paths for bikers. I have never seen any bikes parked at our grocery stores. A decade ago, the US DOT offered $billions in grants to add bike lanes to narrow roads. Our bike lanes remain empty in 2024. They also offer $billions in grants to build dangerous Roundabouts.
The US government is also offering $7,500 bribes to wealthy EV buyers, but these EVs catch fire, are too heavy, don’t start in the cold, are confined to city travel and cost too much. EV trucks are too heavy and require too many stops to charge the batteries to be useful.
