(Dr. Jerome Corsi) – In joining the 50th
anniversary of the “Bloody Sunday” march in Selma – a key point in the 1960s
civil rights movement, President Obama did not hesitate to graft his November
2014 amnesty “executive actions” onto the push for equal rights for African
Americans that Martin Luther King led in marching five days from Selma,
Alabama, to the state capitol in Montgomery.
“The notion that some kid that was brought here when he was
two or three years old might somehow be deported at the age of 20 or 25 even
though they’ve grown up as American, that’s not who we are,” Obama said.
“That’s not true to the spirit of what the march on Selma
was about,” Obama continued. ”When you think about the principle that was
upheld that day and in subsequent days at the Edmund Pettus Bridge, it was the
promise of an inclusive America, it was the promise of an America where
everybody was equal under the law,” he said.
To the far left, that logic may be
compelling. But to Tea Party Loyalists, the comparison Barack Obama is
trying to draw does not establish equivalence between African Americans, who
were citizens, demanding the rights of citizens, and illegal immigrants, who
are criminals that have entered the United States by illegally crossing the
border, demanding for themselves the same rights that U.S. citizens can
legitimately claim.
The idea that illegal immigrants are entitled to the same or
better rights than U.S. citizens enjoy led Loretta Lynch, Obama’s nominee to
replace Eric Holder as Attorney General, to lecture Congress in her
confirmation hearings that illegal immigrants have a right to work in the
United States.
Like LGBT activists that claim equivalence between “same-sex
marriage” argued as a constitutionally protected civil right, Rep. Luis
Gutierrez, Dem-Illinois, has declared that the amnesty movement is “our Selma.”
“This is our Selma and we will walk, we will march, we will
be arrested, we will do anything and everything it takes to make sure families
are protected in this nation,” Gutierrez said, in his attempt to justify the
decision of the Alabama Coalition for Immigration Justice to bus hundreds of
illegal immigrants and amnesty advocates to Selma so they could join the civil
rights march.
Rep. Kurt Schrader, Dem-Oregon, recently invoked the voting
rights and civil rights marches and said at an “Immigration Day Action” event
that the amnesty movement is the civil rights battle for Millennials. As
Breitbart News reported, Schrader also bluntly admitted that the amnesty
movement “will decide who is in this country for the next 20 or 30 years.”
Breitbart also reported that U.S. Civil Rights Commissioner
Peter Kirsanow has advised the Congressional Black Caucus that amnesty
legislation proposed by the Obama administration threatens to devastate
employment opportunities for African Americans.
The Washington-based Center for Immigration Studies has
published government documents obtained in a FOIA request that prove the Obama
administration has given legitimate Social Security numbers and work permits to
5.5 million illegal immigrants from 2009 to 2014, in addition to the number of
new green cards and temporary worker admissions issued legally.
In other words, a “Shadow Government” operated by the Obama
administration since 2009 has been caught illegally granting what amounts to
citizen status to millions of illegal immigrants in complete disregard of
current immigration laws.
“This is a huge parallel immigrant work authorization system
outside the limits set by Congress that inevitably impacts opportunities for
U.S. workers, damages the integrity of the immigration system, and encourages
illegal immigration,” CIS researcher Jessica Vaughn said, making the shocking
announcement.
“A huge number of work permits, 1.7 million, were issued to
aliens whose status was unknown, not recorded by the adjudicator, or not
disclosed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the agency that
processes the applications,” Vaughn continued. “This should be a concern; work
permits are gateway documents to driver’s licenses and other benefits, and if the
government agency issuing them does not know or will not disclose how the
bearer arrived in the country how can others rely on the authenticity of an
individual’s identity? It is equally disconcerting if the government does know
and chooses not to disclose it.”
U.S. Department of Labor jobs data makes clear that since
the beginning of the recession in December 2007, net employment growth has been
going to foreign-born workers.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics has confirmed that labor
force participation has hovered at a 37-year low point for 13 of the l7 months
since October 2013, resulting in a record 92,898,000 Americans not in the labor
force in February 2015.
With millions of native-born American citizens out of the
labor force because lack of work has caused them to be come so discouraged they
are no longer looking for a job, what sense does it make for Democrats like
Loretta Lynch to argue that illegal immigrants have a right to work?
Tea Party Loyalists remain the last line of defense for the
U.S. Constitution. We are the last ones standing to oppose the Obama
amnesty machine and we must make sure the GOP in Washington understands we have
no intention of backing down.
