The
beneficiaries of the $3 trillion a year we spend on healthcare in the US each
year are the providers. The panic over providing healthcare to everybody is not
to benefit patients, it’s to ensure that providers are paid.
The panic over
providing healthcare insurance is that now healthcare costs are unsustainable
and consumers have been duped into thinking that having their huge claims paid
is more free stuff. The reality is that
they are about to run out of this free stuff.
Excessive
government subsidies are the reason for the quadrupling of healthcare cost for
decades. This allowed a limitless flow
of dollars into healthcare and encouraged everyone involved to make it more
expensive. Now it is unsustainable
Government
took on the problem in 1965 and government will need to get this under control.
It’s a lot more fun to run up debt than it is to pay it off.
