Yes, there
are fewer illegals entering the US at the border. I think this is because
illegals know that there will be no amnesty and they think they might be one
speeding ticket away from being deported. This has them thinking about going
back to their home countries vs. going to the back of the line for a path
toward citizenship.
There is
no change in the number of legal immigrants and refugees entering. Throughout the Obama years, the US admitted
1.8 million immigrants a year and we averaged 1.8 million mostly new low wage
jobs a year leaving out own 1.8 million US citizen graduates a year little or
no opportunities. Nothing has changed.
These are still the numbers.
What is
different is Trump’s initiatives to offer a 20% reduction in the corporate tax
rate from 35% to 15% and his intervention to get companies to keep their US
manufacturing operations from being moved overseas. Trump has also increased
pipeline construction and oil and gas exploration jobs. We should begin to see many more reports on new
operations being created after the tax cut is passed.
We should
see a reduction in migrant work permits in order to make room for US citizens
to get jobs.
