Geoffrey Botkin documents U.K. commitment to follow through on Brexit
Editor’s note: In
conjunction with WND TV, filmmaker Geoffrey Botkin recently traveled to
Brussels, the heart of the European Union, to record the following highly
revealing series of videos. They document the stunning post-Brexit struggle of
British voters – indeed of tens of millions of freedom-loving Europeans – to
throw off what they see as the tyranny of the European Union. Mighty historic
winds are currently blowing in Europe, with a de facto Islamic invasion
awakening millions to their almost-lost Christian values and civilization, and
the historic trip of U.S. President Donald Trump, weighing in powerfully on the
side of faith, family and freedom. Watch the videos below:
The story of Brexit began last
summer when the United Kingdom shocked the world with a simple referendum and
an even simpler idea. British voters dared to think the unthinkable: getting
out of utopia, the vaunted European Union. And then they did the unthinkable: They voted to leave.
The disbelieving world soon
discovered why they did it. The British had discovered the EU to be a sneaky
political dictatorship dressed-up to look like a democratic institution. It was
fully intent on undermining British sovereignty and, most painfully, national
security. Islamic migrants were literally killing the British, and the EU
ordered the British to open its borders wider to take in more.
It is now a year later. The migrant
invasion continues, but the Brexit story hasn’t ended.
Yes, Britain appears to be stuck in
the EU, but this week a new chapter in the story opened when the American
president entered the territory of the European Union to say the unsayable. He
spoke of “fighting” for “civilization” and for “God”– the three concepts which
cannot and must not exist in the world of the European Union. Those forbidden
ideas have now been affirmed as virtuous national characteristics and
aspirations. The enthusiastic agreement across Eastern and Central Europe poses
a direct threat to the EU program.
President Trump dared to quote
Polish hymnology and affirmed the impulse “We want God.” When he said Americans
and other Europeans also pursue this cultural impulse,
he confirmed the nationalistic aspirations of millions who are stuck in the
hyper-secular world of political correctness and national suicide but who want
to break free.
Historians may remember the summer
of 2017 as the moment when the anti-democratic, anti-nation agenda of the EU
was disrupted, and when the momentum for a secular “European project” was
halted. From this week forward, Europe may be speaking the language of
independence and liberty, talking about the will to survive as a civilization.
Rumors
of Europe’s death may be slightly exaggerated. Not since the
days of Guthrum in the ninth century has Britain had an enemy on its soil
intent on destroying British culture and killing the native population. Guthrum
was defeated and converted to Christianity. The Brexit event expressed
Britain’s spirit of principled self-defense and marked the beginning of the end
of imperious secularism in Europe.
After the Brexit vote, EU
technocrats did everything they could to keep memories of national achievements
and national character in the dark. They worked to keep criticism of EU
objectives silent. But the Brexit debates stripped away the pretense of EU objectives.
Today the goal of the European Project is now fully exposed:
The
creation of national helplessness through cultural bedlam in order to
harden the powers of a supranational secular technocracy.
Author Christine Williams accurately calls it the
EU’s “death wish for its citizens. “Europeans are footing multi-billion-dollar
bills that they cannot afford, in order to pay for this bedlam,” she writes.
As the EU loses control of this
engineered bedlam, even Bill Gates is backing off his enthusiasm for unchecked
immigration. Member nations are openly rebelling against EU quotas for
immigration and hardening their own measures for internal security and border
control.
More fences are going up. Political
leaders are calling EU dictates invalid. President Trump just described
the fight against Islamic terrorism as the way of civilizational survival.
Prime ministers such as Poland’s Beata Szydło are naming the threat, using
the word “weapon.”
Brexit set the stage for this,
and the next chapter in the story was predicted by Hungarian Prime Minister
Viktor Orban. “I am convinced that 2017 will be a year of rebellion. Whether
they [the globalists] put down the rebellion or not, that’s another story,” he
said.
Szydlo is composing the Polish part
of the story. “We are not going to take part in the madness of the Brussels
elite,” she declared. “Rise from your knees and from your lethargy or you will
be crying over your children every day,” she told fellow Europeans.
“If you cannot see this – if you
cannot see that terrorism currently has the potential to hurt every country in
Europe, and you think that Poland should not defend itself – you are going hand
in hand with those who point this weapon against Europe, against all of us. It
needs to be said clearly and directly: This is an attack on Europe, on our
culture, on our traditions,” she said.
In a message to the Hungarian
Parliament, Orbán stated the conflict more plainly. “Brussels,” he said,
“is openly on the side
of terrorists.”
Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico
is calling on all of
Europe to reject the EU narrative on refugees. “We will not
assist in this folly with arms opened wide with the notion that we will accept
them all regardless of whether they are economic migrants or not. We must start
telling the truth about migration.” Slovakia is taking firm steps to see that
no mosques are built in the nation and that Islam will never be
recognized by the state as
an accepted religion.
It’s an expression of civilizational
confidence that has been noted by Boston college professor William Kilpatrick
as lacking in the West. But Eastern and Central European nations are getting
confidence back and talking about the kind of courage their ancestors had. It
is this recovered history that is electrifying Europe and putting today’s
crisis in context.
“Let us not forget,” says Orban,
“that those arriving have been raised in another religion, and represent a
radically different culture. Most of them are not Christians, but Muslims. This
is an important question, because Europe and European identity is rooted in
Christianity.”
In another speech Orban insisted,
“We must therefore drag the ancient virtue of courage out from under the silt
of oblivion.” The EU’s fundamentalist-strength
secularism has buried national memory and character. Secularism was forced into
the soul of Europe by the psychological command-and-control weapon known as
political correctness. But EU uniformity of thought, speech and behavior began
coming apart last summer after Brexit.
The Hungarian government has tasked
a Budapest think tank, the Veritas Institute, to recover lost Hungarian and
European history so that what is left of civilization can be defended and
preserved. Notes Orban, “There is no free,
prestigious and honorable Europe without the lifeblood of nations and the
wisdom of two thousand years of Christianity.”
European
Union in desperation - Four panic-stricken and
squabbling EU presidents see all this history as a threat. It is. The memory of
courageous forefathers is coming back. The world watched as Donald Trump had a
face-to-face meeting with a portrait of Jan Sobieski, whose faith and
achievements are now being recalled far and wide. Sobieski united European
armies to resist the same enemy the EU refuses to call an enemy.
The EU is losing credibility. Its
legitimacy is finally being properly questioned. Thus the EU is exerting all
the pressures at hand to keep Britain and the other nations under firm control,
including blackmail, bribery, legal action and
the invoking of the “Infringement Procedure.”
The commission has even threatened
to fine member states 250,000 euros for every migrant they refuse to settle in
order to “fairly and equally” distribute millions of migrants across the
continent. The EU’s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini announced that the
bloc had no intention of sealing the borders to reduce the flow of migrants. “Let
me be totally clear from the very beginning: Europe does not and will not close
its doors,” she said.
How far will the EU press the
authority it claims to have this power without accountability? The last, great
tool for enforcement of EU secularism is an EU army, which is being comprised
of the militaries of all member states, including Britain’s armed forces.
Somewhere along the road to EU compliance,
the European member nations were conned into this annexation of their
militaries. This surrender of armed responsibility followed the surrender of
numerous other responsibilities to the unelected EU commission.
This is why it is so hard for Britain
or any other nation to hold the commission accountable. But the effort is
beginning. Hungary’s plan is to change the EU rather than leave it. At present
it is an awkward standoff. The EU is walking back some earlier demands, and it
is now doubtful that these awakening European nations will permit their
soldiers to be used to enforce further national surrender to EU domination.
Orban put this challenge to the
nations of Europe. “The time has come to prevent the destruction of Europe and
to save the future of Europe,” the prime minister said. “To this end,
regardless of party affiliation, we call on every citizen of Hungary to unite,
and we call on every European nation to unite.”
