Economist Milton
Friedman (1912-2006) explains how our economy needs to concentrate on
production, not spending. He says that welfare is unsustainable and that
immigrants should not be eligible for US welfare of any kind. Immigration worked
before 1914, because there was no welfare and immigrants were expected to be
self-supporting. We also had a surplus of jobs they could fill.
He reminds us that we
voters need to be able to control our government and we have failed to keep our
government in its box. Having concluded after the fall of the Soviet Union that
socialism is was failure, most countries have adopted socialism. Government
operated electric utilities need to be privatized and Agricultural subsidies
should be ended.
