Legislature backs $17 million for new Falcons parking deck

Debbie Dooley posted in New Georgia Republican Leadership for Principles above Politicians

I know many legislators did not realize that this 17 million dollars in corporate cronyism was in the budget. I hope the legislators that oppose giving 17 million more tax dollars to a billionaire will speak up and ask Gov. Deal to use his line item veto to remove this in the budget. If they don't speak up, then it is very likely to become a campaign issue and it should be.

This is the government picking winners and losers and true conservatives don't support this. I plan on sending out an email regarding this.. Voters are fed up with this corporate welfare/cronyism and it is time voters of both parties speak up and say ENOUGH !!

Please call Gov. Deal at 404-656-1776 and ask him to use his line item veto to remove this. The Falcons get to keep the revenue from parking during the games. This is a bad deal for tax payers. If tax payers are paying for the parking deck, then they should receive all of the revenue..

Here is the Falcons/Blank "shakedown" of tax payer money to pay for the new Falcons stadium in addition to the 17 million dollars:

$882 million - hotel/motel tax funds (per Georgia World Congress Center Authority documents)

+ $250 million - estimated 30 year property tax exemption (at least 60% - approximately $150 million should go to Atlanta Public Schools)

+ $25 million - sales tax credit on construction cost

+ $24 million - state land (estimated value prior to purchase of churches and other properties)

+ $15 million - community development

———————

$1.2 BILLION - total public money benefiting the Atlanta Falcons
