Horowitz: GOP to Confirm ‘Property Rights are White and Racist’ Judge, By Daniel Horowitz 1/14/16
After confirming a
liberal judge to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals earlier this week as their first act of 2016, Senate
Republicans are prepared to confirm yet another liberal judge next week. And
once again, they are sneaking it in as the first vote on Tuesday so that
opponents can’t mobilize. Welcome to Orwell’s “1984” where the opposition party
is not really the opposition party.
On Tuesday afternoon, Republicans
will vote to confirm Wilhelmina Marie Wright, a sitting member of the Minnesota
state Supreme Court, to the United States District Court for the District of
Minnesota. Just who is Ms. Wright?
Writing a short entry for the UCLA
Law Review in 1990 (page 18-19 of PDF), Ms. Wright brazenly asserted that, “The practice of
American racism is based on two principles: the sanctity of property and the
belief in the hierarchy of races.” She concludes as follows:
The
failure of today’s racial discourse is its reliance on the notion that property
is neutral, that the deed to a suburban home is ‘property’ while the opportunity
to move out of a slum is not. The fungibility of property can be no better
exemplified than it is by slavery. The fact that our Constitution once
recognized one person’s very life and liberty as another’s property should
teach us the danger of letting property determine liberty rather than looking
to liberty to define property.
If you want to know why every
Democrat-appointed and many GOP-appointed judges believe the Constitution is
unconstitutional, here’s the source. They oppose the fundamental negative
rights expressed in our founding documents, replace them with man-made positive
rights for favored classes, and point to flaws with the settlement of our
continent with regard to slavery as justification for upending the Constitution
outside the legitimate amendment process.
Ms. Wright, much like all of Obama’s
judicial tyrants, believes our foundational values are rooted in racism.
As part of the preamble of our
Declaration of Independence, our founders asserted the self-evident, God-given
right to property rights and that, much like life and liberty, all men were
created equal in that respect. Yet, Ms. Wright, much like all of Obama’s
judicial tyrants, believes our foundational values are rooted in racism.
Obviously, as is always the case,
Wright downplays this article as a submission she was asked to write as a law
student, and of course, she would only uphold the written word of the
Constitution as a federal judge. It’s this cat-and-mouse game that has gotten
Republicans to confirm so many post-constitutional judges. This is why we have
case law infringing upon property rights, gun rights, and commerce rights. At
the same time, we have the creation of super rights to affirmative action,
abortion, universal recognition of a gay marriage, and special protection for
illegal aliens. It stems from this mentality that is clearly rooted in Ms.
Wright’s deeply-held beliefs.
But rather than learn the lessons of
the constitutional massacre at the Supreme Court this term, Republicans are
gratuitously confirming more judges to lifetime appointments who will continue
the assault on our Constitution. And remember, as I pointed out earlier this week, by confirming Wright with overwhelming support to serve on
a district bench, it will make it easier for Democrats to get her confirmed to
an appellate bench in the future. Furthermore, the GOP’s alacrity to confirm
Obama judges has just prompted the White House to submit the nomination of two
more individuals to serve on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Meanwhile, Obama continues to surrender our
sovereignty to the U.N. on immigration, our
security to the Iranian Mullahs and the Muslim Brotherhood, and our system of
governance to the unelected bureaucracies. And there is nothing or nobody to
deter him. It’s not as if Obama won’t get his judges confirmed.

We need to clean out the US Senate
by retiring those who vote to confirm Liberal Judges and support the UN. Those
who argue against the right of American citizens to own property are
Communists. They are not race relations
reformers. Property ownership is not
racist; it is the one right that allows for a private sector free market
economy. It allows all Americans to prosper and become self-supporting. The
repeal of the death tax will help restore the free market.
