GA Governors’ Legacy Projects

At what point do we, as voters, say enough and stop the legacy projects that feed the egos of Georgia Elected officials, specifically the Governor? Going back as far as Zell Miller, Brasstown Valley Resort and Spa, Roy Barnes, Marblehill in Mableton, Sonny Perdue, GoFish, in Perry, and now Lanier Tech, in Gainesville. These are all recognized as "LEGACY" projects that pander to the ego's of the Governor. Mr. Barnes project is the smallest due only to the fact that he was a single term Governor. We are committed through 2027 on bonds of $30 million for GoFish alone. Call the General Fund what it is, a "grab bag of other people's money" and try and reserve some sense of character and moral fiber by quitting to allow these type of situations to occur.

Harry Abrams is right. Georgia Governors should get a portrait hung on the wall at the gold dome and that’s about it.
