Young People at Risk

Our nation's young people are being taken hostage to a radical social agenda!

Four pro-homosexual lawmakers are now seeking to bypass the legislative and legal processes by pushing through a nationwide regulatory action by the Federal Trade Commission that would ban "Change Therapy." This dangerous proposal must be stopped. Please see my important update below - Mat.

A requested ban on all so-called "Change Therapy" puts families, teens, and counselors on the wrong side of the law. The proposal would prohibit counselors from providing and clients from receiving any counsel seeking to change, reduce, or eliminate unwanted same-sex sexual attractions, behavior, or identity.

This suggested regulatory action would mean that counselors could only affirm unwanted same-sex attractions as normal, despite the fact that the client does not want to act on such feelings. Depriving minors and families from beneficial counsel will cause significant harm to them.

"Big Brother," in effect, barges into the private counseling rooms of victimized young people and tells them that the confusion caused by even the likes of a Jerry Sandusky (the notorious pedophile who was exposed during the crisis at Penn State a few years ago) is normal, and they should do nothing to resist unwanted same-sex sexual attractions and behavior.  Rather than change unwanted feelings or behavior, the regulation would require the counselor to advise the client to change religious and moral beliefs.

Now, if these four activist lawmakers have their way, our nation's young people may not be afforded the opportunity to continue their desired counseling.

Following President Obama's lead, these agenda-driven lawmakers are seeking regulatory action by a government agency to circumvent the legislative and legal processes.

Democrat Senators Patty Murray (WA) and Cory Booker (NJ), and Democrat Representatives Jackie Speier (CA) and Ted Lieu (CA), have requested a Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulatory action banning "Conversion Therapy" by licensed and trained counselors. ("Conversion" and "Change" Therapy are used interchangeably.)

This request is an outrageous overreach of a government agency's power and a clear violation of individual rights. The reasoning and assertions made in their letter to FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez are one-sided and strongly skewed toward the pro-homosexual viewpoint. These lawmakers have chosen to circumvent the legislative and legal processes.

A ban on "Change Therapy" exists in four states and the District of Columbia. Many state's legislatures have defeated similar measures, primarily after hearing the testimonies of men and women who benefited from "Change Therapy." In the states where anti-change laws have been adopted, they are quickly challenged in the courts.

Ted Lieu, as a California State Representative, was the driving force for California's outrageous SB 1772 ban on "Change Therapy" counseling.

Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-CA) has made a prior attempt at passing legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives based upon California's law. The bill died in committee and most assuredly would not pass the House or the Senate during this session of Congress.

These lawmakers are now attempting to force the pro-homosexual agenda into counseling centers through a ban on "Conversion Therapy" enacted and enforced by the Federal Trade Commission by citing the counseling as "unfair, deceptive, and fraudulent." This is an attempt to circumvent the American people through Obama-style "executive action," also known as tyranny!

This regulatory action must be STOPPED and we need your help to prevail in this battle! We are delivering our own "Letter of Opposition" toward this proposed regulatory action to FTC Chairwoman Ramirez, commission members, and key members of Congress. We MUST do so with at least 25,000 signatures of principled Americans who will stand against these four lawmakers and their attempt to advance a blatant pro-homosexual initiative.

As you undoubtedly know, Liberty Counsel has been fighting state bans on "Change Therapy" for many years. As a result, today, we await a decision by the Supreme Court as to whether or not they will hear our case on appeal.

The minors we represent in our litigation efforts have not and do not want to act on same-sex attractions, nor do they want to engage in such behavior. They are greatly benefiting from counseling.  These minors have struggled with same-sex attraction and have been able to reduce or eliminate the stress and conflict in their lives by receiving counseling that aligns with their religious and moral values.

For a civil government to assume that it knows best concerning the kind of counseling individual patients should receive is the height of hubris and ignorance! The authority of parents is being undermined. This outrageous movement must be STOPPED!

The battle to stop pro-homosexual legal activism and social recruitment is one of the most important fights in American history. Join us in this initiative to tell the Federal Trade Commission and lawmakers to stop this potential regulatory action dead in its tracks. Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman, Liberty Counsel

The American Communist Party Goals 1920 restated 1963 include normalizing homosexuality to sabotage American morality.  Our schools are the “reeducation camps” for this kind of government imposed social engineering. The same goes for recently introduced Muslim indoctrination and gender change.  In Canada, you can go to jail for criticizing this government overreach.  In the US, if you own a bakery, you get a $135,000 fine.

The same issues arise from this indoctrination as did with cults in the 1970s. I starts with heavy reeducation and ends up with fear induced slavery and drug addiction to seal the bargain.  The same tactics are used by all cults that traffic in child prostitution and sexual abuse of minors.

Children are easily programmed in government schools, like extreme environmentalism and teenagers are particularly susceptible to fads like LGBT. Legislators need to move carefully to remove us from the edge of this slippery slope.

This will result either in a total loss of freedom or the repeal of all anti-discrimination laws.
